Summary

Purpose of the Books tool.

We've long needed a place on the site to write guides and provide examples.

Finally, the Books tool provides that centralized place where we can compile standards and provide much needed explanations and examples relative to using the site.

To get started, simply click the New Book link above. For the moment, creation and editing is limited to moderators ( Admin Level 5 ).

Books can be previewed, and edited. No delete code yet. Anyone can edit any book. Books are owned by the last person to update them.


The Topic should be pretty general. "Guide", "Examples", "Standards", etc.

The Title should be very specific.

Summary is optional, but keep it under 255 characters.

The contents can be anything, and all forum bbcode is acceptable. Meaning you can post images and links, do formatting, and all that cool stuff.

There is the option to have a cover image. For now, all will have a nice book image borrowed from the Linux Oxygen icon set. The table definition is pretty flexible. I've only coded the most basic features for now.
