I started this website 16 years ago with the idea to visually index characters to help people find the names and sources of characters they see. The site has grown so much over the years. Thanks to you, be you a new visitor, member or admin. It's the people who use ACDB, contribute to ACDB, and moderate ACDB that make this a project I can give my all to. Thank you for your support!

Reckoning all the troubles and happy times, the amount of work and dedication needed to rise up from nothing to a settled and strong community is immense, and without Rei's perseverance, we wouldn't have what we have today.
From the first day you've watched anime until today, can you list how many characters you've seen? Could you name them? Know their physical attributes, their personalities? We sure can!
We may have missed one or two titles and characters on the way, but there's always room to improve, and we get so happy with new contributions filling in the gaps!
Some of us here on ACDB's staff have been watching anime way more than two decades, some are new to the hobby, but we all can see past that by joining together in our love for anime, to serve you all the best of the best with a good visual search engine, with our help in looking for your characters and anime, and all the fun activities you all can do here.
Now, think of all anime that has been released in the past 16 years... surely many things have changed drastically like art style and themes , new animation studios, new adaptations and original stories, but there is one key element that stays the same, no matter if it's 2007 or 2023: you!
Anime fans, have remained unchanged with passion and love for our hobby, and without you we simply couldn't have ran ACDB for as long as we have today.
A big thank you to Rei, our very hardworking staff members - past and present, and specially to all our fellow otaku that keep our community alive and ever growing!

Hailing from the countryside, Mitsumi Iwakura enrolls in a prestigious school in Tokyo, leaving her family and childhood friends behind to chase her dreams of becoming a politician and bringing prosperity to Japan's countryside.
Planning to have a perfect first day at school, Mitsumi prepares everything she can with no window to failure, but everything goes awry soon after she steps inside the train to school.
Lost in the train station, she is helped by the laid back Sousuke Shima, who was also late but by choice.
While riding the train a second time, an overwhelmed Mitsumi accidentally snaps at Sousuke for not taking the entrance ceremony seriously, and she gets worried her true colors are nothing like what she had been planning.
Arriving at school, Mitsumi ends up having even more failures in her perfect plan.
With the ceremony over, the students head over to their classes and Sousuke asks for Mitsumi's phone number, surprising her with kindness.
