3 3 Star Review of The World of Narue by Mitsugu

Mitsugu Mouryou’s Anime Review

The World of Narue is a cutesy scify romantic comedy for all ages, though it is light. Light on comedy, light on romance and light on science fiction, but with Haijme’s investigations, and witty the back and forth of Kanaka and Bathyscaphe, injects some much needed humor.

The plot is basic, and filled with a few predicable clichés, but not boring. Spoiler: as set up in the 3rd episode, be prepared for an anime within an anime! I did love how they brought up the “Orashima Effect” aka light speed theory(special relativity)… to explain Kanaka’s age. Real physics in anime is awesome! More could have been done with the plot give that Narue is a human-alien hybrid… like space travel! But, when you’re limited to 12 episodes, wha’d ya gonna do?
Voice acting isn’t bad at all in either language(code for en dub is good), you find some familiar voices mostly from Pokémon, but without the whinny inflections or poor character design.
Character design I do share Yagi’s(Hajime’s) major gripe about Narue claiming to be an alien, yet looking 100% human, while the Avaloniains look like cheesy cartoon villains. Other than that the character design is quite good.
Character development is rather limited… only 12 episodes, but the main characters do show their true colors as they all become a tightly woven click.
In conclusion This is a fun cutesy anime for all ages: 3.2 (out of 10), very mild violence, no foul language, blood, nudity, or naughty situations at all, just witty banter back and forth. Recommended for viewing if you’ve got 3 hours to kill, and don’t need to think too hard.
