Natsu is an fire mage, who uses a special type of magic called Dragon Slayer magic. This magic allows him to eat flames, punch with flames, breathe flames and pretty much bathe in flames. This is the only type of magic that will actually hurt dragons, since all other attacks seems to not even tickle them. I don't know why, it doesn't seem that powerful compared to other mages.
