For a series called the 8th son, there is not a lot of focus on the main character's family beyond a succession battle with the 1st born. While this is an iseikai, the main character hardly brings anything from Japan with him. He begins as a 5 year old with a couple of cheats. - He can read. Possibly the only one in the family that is literate. - He can use magic. No one else in his family has magical ability. On top of that, he has a magical capacity surpassing even a court magician. There are strong feels with his mentor - and quite sad when they part ways. The protagonist is hopelessly naïve, while kind hearted. |
