Hello everyone! I have an exciting new feature to tell you about.

The Anime Quotes DB

If you're wondering what the point of this is, please stop reading now.



Basically we're never going to have as much anime as MAL, as many characters as AP, as many VN's as VNDB, as much info as ANIDB ... so I figure why not go to war in an open field where we'll be the only player?

You've got to be insane to assign every single line of dialog to a character, and I'm just that person!

With more than 10,000 lines assigned to characters from 3 series, we're ready to go public.

I've also included the Vote Up Down feature, so you can vote up your favorite lines!

There are many search tools, so hopefully you can find the line you are looking for.

A side effect of this project is knowing every episode a character appeared in, and exactly what they said in that episode. Has great potential for identifying characters by dialog, finding the episodes your favorite character was in, etc etc.

There's also potential for trivia? Any thoughts? Mini games?

For the moment, I am the only one indexing episodes. That opens at least 2 questions.

1. What series should I index next?
2. Would anyone be interested in indexing series themselves?

Please note if you suggest a series over 13 episodes long, I will take that to mean YOU ARE VOLUNTEERING TO INDEX IT YOURSELF

Are there any plans to index VNs and h-games as well?

Indexing VN's and h-games would be a different challenge. My tool set could be adapted to allow assigning dialog/translations from VN's to characters. Is there a particular game you'd be interested in working on? XD

Well, I have the translated limited edition of Kono Ōzora ni, Tsubasa o Hirogete. I could index that if you want xD

Also, the next series you could start indexing next, in my opinion, are short 3 - 5 minute ONAs and OVAs since they are super short ^^

Let's see what's possible with Kono Ōzora ni, Tsubasa o Hirogete.

I wouldn't mind indexing some series as long as I can figure out how the indexing tools work. Though I'm sure you've probably made it simple enough to use. :P

Oh and question: If a series has both an english sub and a dub, does it matter which one we index the dialogue for, cause they'll probably be slightly different?

It's as simple as clicking the picture of the character that said the line.

Things do get tricky from time to time, but I have ways to handle many situations I've run into.

1. Mistakes
- Just click the X by the character to unassign. Easier if you open it in a new tab ( middle click )
2. Multiple characters with same line
- Keep clicking characters. Can assign the entire cast to the same line if necessary XD
3. Lines by extras
- Assign it to the guy wearing a cloak


I have a particular source for subs right now, so we'd be using them in place of any dub or other fansub group.

Would it be possible that I could index the series, Love Live?

It only has 13 episodes and it doesn't have much lines; most of it is music which brings up another question. Do we index music?

Update for Aoi-chan:

I dig some digging into Kono Ōzora ni, Tsubasa o Hirogete, and got as far as the Patch. It seems within it, the subtitles are compressed and encoded. If someone could reverse engineer it and extract the subtitles, I'd be able to get them into the database for indexing.

Love Live should be easier to get started on. xD

Songs might be problematic - we'll have to see. I'll try to PM you later with a link. ^^
