Account wide? Waifu wide?

@superpapak1 testing how well someone knows their waifu certainly has crossed my mind ! I have a couple active projects with long term goals of making that possible. Nothing quite solid yet, which means I need more approach to consider.

Cons - trolls give troll gifts
2. Dialog Project
Pros - Fun way to interact with a character
Cons - Not many dialogs have been made, no real incentive to create a high quality working interaction
3. Any details associated with the character .... VA, tags, series assignment, etc
4. ??? What else might make this possible ?

@Kiru it's a cool idea tying number of waifu's to time on site. Sorta similar to what we did with the treasure hunting licenses?

I don't want to discriminate too harshly against new members though, if we can achieve the same result by banning multiple accounts.

Sory for the late response, been kinda busy with RL.

Nice to see things are taken care of, however, except things looking a bit more realistic suitors wise (I'm a minor character lover, I just seem to fall for them in every show and start to care for them more than for the main cast) as the characters that I love are mostly minor ones.

Now instead of at least having a name of the NTRer (is that a word?) I come on to find out my Yuki has been NTRed by a ghost as there are no suitors other than myself. There were at least several as I remember, now ghosts ruined my one month+ streak and is kind of off putting.

That's why suggested the 'PvP on/off' mode. The best would be account wise, with said account having it's own time counter and the NTR obviously disabled, but once you turn it on, every Waifu/Husbando claimed in the meantime would be auto-NTRed by the last person that claimed the character in question without affecting his/hers time counter while the others would stay unchanged, meaning time counter since your claim would be valid. This way no one really loses, as people who want to be competitive still can be and NTR each other.

The quiz is not going to work and here's why! While there are tons of info about the well known characters, what about the minor ones that we really know little to nothing about, some of them are even regularly shown, yet there is no additional info about them or is scarce at best in their verse. That could potentially penalize us who end up falling for those characters who more not end up dying in their respective shows and thus breaking our hearts more than enough as it is.

What about the: New account can't claim Waifu/Husbando the first 48 hours? This could hopefully bring down a lot of claims from fresh made Multi's that end up being 'Ghosts' by the time one log in.

Again, those are just suggestions, we are all here to brainstorm to provide better experience for everyone, so people, let's brainstorm!

You definitely have the best ideas, in short the NTR should be optional, and you're right about the ghosts, a moment ago many of my waifus had no suitors besides me, but suddenly 60 percent (or more) of all my waifus were claimed by someone who, at least in the waifus I check, is a ghost called NetorareGuy or something, it seems to me a troll name but I have no idea.

Two Issues I'd like to touch on this time.

PVP On/Off

I'm going to need some convincing how this would be any different from Adding To Favorites or Adding to Loved Characters ?

The Waifu feature is unique in that it's competitive. If we take away the competitiveness - it feels to me overly redundant having a 3rd generic list feature.

The difficulty in coding this is high, and potential for chaos is very high. Timing and other stats will be completely messed up if someone decides to toggle this on and of and on again. :S

Ghosting

That's been more than source of annoyance for me too.

On one hand, I want the site open and fun so someone can open a new account and have the most fun right away.
On the other hand, I don't want someone with 0 commitment screwing over regulars.

Makes me wonder if we could have Graduated Tiers .

You'd only be competing with people of a similar commitment level.

About the PvP part

I think the problem is people either don't know the difference between having a favorite, loving, and claiming as waifu. So a possible solution would be to have a pop-up "are you sure you want to claim ____. Please note claiming as waifu could result in someone NTRing them, if you would like to avoid this please consider using the favorites/love lists instead" kinda thing before someone claims someone.

About the Ghosting part

I think you could have fun with the notifications like:
member A tries to take a highly fought after waifu from member B
member A whose been here for less then a week would get a notification saying "You're 100 years to early from claiming her/him" or something sassy/silly like that while member B whose been here for a month or so remains unaffected and keeps their timer going

Speaking as someone who joined a couple of days ago and has been learning this site's mechanics, I'd like to join in the discussion, since this claiming mechanic is fun for how simple it is currently!

On PVP: As nice as it sounds to just have your waifus peacefully protected by a NTR shield, I agree that it'd kind of defeat the point of the feature if people could just selectively opt out of it, possibly for good. I like the idea of each waifu/husbando being one of each and unique with the users being different suitors that are fighting over them, so I'm not sure even limiting it to account wide would be best. What I think could be added is a sort of "prestige system" for waifus in order to show in detail how the user feels about them. At the moment, the only special mark for them is the 100 mark you get for max happiness. There currently isn't a mark for labeling, for example, someone's number one waifu (sure, you can put their name first on your badge or name them on your page, but anyone can do that), which in itself could be a higher mark than "100" and could be possibly granted from a lot of total time and gifts devoted to a particular waifu, past what you need to do to max them out. Exactly one waifu/husbando could have this mark, which means anyone thinking of NTRing them is aware that doing so would be a bigger deal than NTRing normally. That's one example of a different mark at least.

From what I've noticed, "ghosting" tends to come from someone with a negative or 0% happiness rating claiming a character. Following up on Kiru's suggestion, NTR messages could possibly change depending on happiness levels. Claiming a character at 0% is neutral and where everyone starts with with an unclaimed character, but if someone claims one that's at massively low negative happiness, that means that they've been ignoring/neglecting them before in a pretty big way. I don't know how to specifically respond to this, especially since it could just be someone who genuinely loves their waifu but just never visited the site in a long while for whatever reason (though it has to be a preeeeeetty long time to get as low as some of the happiness levels I've seen), and not a NTR guy for the sake of NTRing and not making the character happy, but I assume some form of acknowledgement could be possible.

Those are my suggestions, though I like the idea of going with fortification of claims or commitment Tiers for the moment. Especially since the stuff I've said might be really hard to code/not possible for all I know, pffft.

I like Dragoon's idea of having a #1 waifu, that could probably be represented by a crown or a "#1" icon. But i think there should a bonus for having that. Maybe the protection timer after you reclaim should be higher?

The point of the Waifu/Husbando feature is to fight other members for the characters you love the most, not to claim as many as possible. If you could claim as many as you want, it would be way too similar to the "Favorite" or "Loved" character lists. There's no need for that kind of redundancy.

I've made an update to hopefully address the problem of 'ghosting'.

New Claims can not be removed until mid night server time. This effectively make it so someone will have to wait a day before they can remove their claim.

I am still exploring the #1 Waifu idea.

Maybe increasing the protected time to 15 minutes, or allowing happiness to be buffed beyond 100%.

Unfortunately, all the problems come in when considering what happens when someone wants to change their #1 Waifu . You know someone will try to claim every character as it. And someone else will make a new claim, mark it as #1, remove it and repeat ... so yeah. What can I do to prevent that?
