We set a traffic record yesterday.
138,945 unique IP's and 3,382,426 page requests!
I'll do what I can to squeeze out the max performance of the server we have. Perhaps it'll be worth while to rent a 2nd server to handle overflow requests.
Nginx does such an awesome job load balancing. Although for those 200 people requesting a page during the exact same second it can add considerable delays. Wait a few seconds and try again usually works at the busiest moments.
I raised the rate limit from 60r/s to 80r/s and that seemed to help. I'm curious if 100r/s would work.
Seeing as the bulk of the bottleneck is CPU usage by MariaDB, I may look into renting a server tailored for a highly optimized database mirror. Lots of RAM and SSD.
