What is a lounge script?

Scripts are triggered by specific messages sent to the lounge.

1) What message triggers the script?
2) What does the script do?

As an exmaple, let's imagine a Greeting Script.

The trigger will be something simple, like Hi or Hello .

Once the script is added, the next time someone says Hi or Hello in the lounge, the Anime Characters Database bot will greet them like so:



What scripts currently exist?

Lounge HELP usually has the most up-to-date list of scripts.
The Commands tab of the lounge has a short form list.

What types of scripts are possible?

Type 1
- Simple trigger and action.

These scripts are self contained. A little code is executed, and a message printed.

Type 2
- Database Required.

These ones require a database to store or retrieve information from.

Type 1 scripts I'll generally do so long as they are entertaining for more than a few people.

Type 2 scripts can be a lot of work, but if the idea is solid, I'm up for the challenge coding it! ^_^


Annd at some point in the future, I just might code an IRC interface to the lounge which could potentially allow any member with IRC and an IRC bot to connect it to the lounge.

Ooo! Random thought based on your Sensei idea. Inuyasha and Kagome. 'Inuyasha' would trigger a 'Kagomeee!!!' and 'Kagome' triggers a 'Inuyashaaaa!'

I chose those two, because they're well known for yelling each others name all the time...
