This is more directed for Miss Rei.

I suggest a feature where you can hide/show different parts of the char's profiles. For this post's reasoning, is that I wish for a way to hide the "Popular chars voiced by [Insert English voice actor here]" part. I ask of this because every time I search up a char, I see the various images of popular chars that their voice actors also performed as. So at times, it kinda baits or gets me going when I see chars I never realized had the same voices of another char that I know of until I realized that it was actually displaying the English voice actor's list of char voice works. Now no offense to anyone who appreciates that and prefers EN voices, but personally for me, I don't give a heck about which chars the English actor voiced as because I wouldn't dare touch a single dub anime even with a 100 foot pole. The only thing that would interest me personally is what chars the JP Seiyuu had voiced as well, without me having to go through wiki or MAL for a TIL. And unfortunately unless a person didn't submit an EN voice or submitted the JP one after the EN one, the latest voice actor on the list (the 2nd one) is the one that shows up on the "popular chars voiced by" part.

To your point, I realize now I made a mistake by not making the 'popular characters voiced by' use the Japanese voice actor. You are not alone in your desire to hide it either. Li's probably suprized the feature still lives. lol

Let's see ... 2 things I could do would be :

1. Make it show characters by the same Japanese voice actor or none at all
2. Add a profile option to eliminate click bait

That's actually what I was getting at and having in mind because there are some doujin sites and whatnot out there that lets you see whatever you want to see on your end of the computer depending on how you setup your preferences. So I was wondering if it was possible for you do it, but didn't know if it was too much of a task for you to undertake, which is why I was suggesting it. But that would be great if you could. Because I didn't start off by saying getting rid of it completely since as I stated, I know some people who actually do appreciate dub voices and some of the actors. That's why this would be a great compromise for everyone, well cept for you, who has to do all of the coding leg work lol. But I'm glad I'm not alone in not preferring the EN voice actor suggestion box. I thought I was the only one which is why I was kinda weary to suggest this.

Also I'm not entirely sure if you are the same Rei as the rainbow dash one from the Lounge, but I have replied to your statement and am waiting for an re-reply lol.

Oh oh! I have another suggestion, though this might not the best time right now, but... Is it possible to add a section that also shows the various char that the voice has done but instead of popular ones, a randomized one? Because I'm sure the popular ones are there to enlighten people why a char might sound familiar since they might've seen other popular works that had the chars in them, but it would be kinda boring to see the same ones over and over (or at the least the ones that the community kept on voting/rating for all-time popularity if I had to guess).

Also I still haven't heard a reply in the ACDB help lounge. Is it ok if I go ahead and add in the different char jobs?

Randomizing them ... I can see your point, but I don't think it will work for my goals. The majority of people who visit ACDB each day are first time visitors. By showing popular characters, there's a higher chance they'll recognize one and click it - spending more time on ACDB. I'm always open to reconsider at another time, but that's my feeling right now.




Sorry I'm past my limit for multitasking, so had been avoiding the #ACDB Help channel for tonight. I'll leave it to Li to make the call. I think she'll be on in a few hours.

Oh nice work! Although I did suggest to just hide the English VA and their popular char parts, but it seems like you gotten rid of the English VA's altogether? And put it on for the popular chars part only? Well Mission Accomplished I suppose. Does this mean you no longer will be accepting Eng VA infos?
