Some memebers have been helping out by setting Real values for Eye Color, Hair Color, Hair Length, Age, Sex, and Mimikko, using the Edit Character tool. So it's about time I coded up something to highlight where the Real values, and the Actual values differ!
And here it is: http://www.animecharactersdatabase.com/realdiff.php QC staff is encouraged to do one of the following for each case: 1) correct the actual value 2) correct the real value 3) recommend changing the default image. 4) do nothing #4 being reserved for cases like traps, or characters with countless hair styles. I'll recode the tool later so that you can get a better explination of what the values are on the same page, rather than having to go to the character page to find out. Maybe add a pager too, just incase we see more than 120 characters differing... [ Edited Jul 9, 2009 ] |

...yeah, that's going to be terribly confusing, especially for those who are new to the site. If you're talking about the same thing for the two values why not just have one? If what you're doing is putting a value for what it looks like and one for what it actually is then put "Apparent" as a label on one of them.

![]() Apparent Gender Female Real Gender Male Apparent Eye Color Green Real Eye Color Black Apparent Hair Color Blue Real Hair Color Black Apparent Hair Length Past Waist Real Hair Length bald Apparent Age Teen Real Age Senior This is what I am talking about. Or more accuratly, the reverse. The apparent values are used in selecting search results, only a handful of people can change them. The Real vaules are informational, thus anyone can change them. When submiting a new character, if auto approved, the apparent values are set in stone, and if someone made a mistake, they might modify the real values in an attempt to correct it. When this happens, I and QC staff are to catch it using this new tool, and sync the real and aparent values. Frankly a lot of the auto approved characters are not indexed in sync with the database standards. I don't have time to go over them one by one. So, I'm using this as a short cut so they float to my attention. [ Edited Jul 9, 2009 ] |
