Well, I got some screenies of characters. I was able to get all of them except Mikio Fuyou, the best shot of him was a close up of the back of his head. I'll email the pics to Rei once I'm done modifying them (cropping, eliminating subtitles etc.). I was also thinking of getting a good screenshot of Tsuchimi Rin if there aren't any good ones out on the net, the best one I found in amongst the eps I got the others from the best view of him had a juice box in it which wasn't too appealing. I'll give you the other screenie that I got of him (not too revealing of the features IMO). One more thing, the formal names of Sia's and Nerine's fathers are as such: Eustoma (Sia's father) and Forbesii (Nerine's Father).

Next entry suggestion coming up.
Anime: Please Teacher English info: http://www.clho.net/anime/anime.php?anime=141 (character pics) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Please_Teacher! (English and Japanese seiyuu info) I can get you bigger versions of those character pics if needs be as well as the other main characters that aren't on that first page (there are two or three). Edit: Oh, hope the double post doesn't bug you, just let me know if it does. [ Edited Nov 11, 2007 ] |

It's alright. Only thing that'd bug me is intensionally malicious posts. Other than that, you may use the forum as you wish. ![]() you seem to know a lot about getting information on anime series and anime characters, I'd like to ask for your insight. Even now, ACDB lacks an efficient system for dealing with anime series. It has been very difficult finding reliable sources of information as to character names, character images, and series information. To date the most reliable source of information on character names has been Anime News Networks (see: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=5375). However, each new ark of an anime series introduces new main characters, and each new episode introduces new characters. What do you suggest? The best I've come up with is getting the home page link of the series, getting the names and images of characters the home page provides, then rely on users of ACDB to point out the missing characters. I've tried Google Images Searching the names of every character listed on ANNE, unfortunately it's not reliable. I've also tired getting information form Anime Mags like Newtype, Megumi, Comp H's, but scans are hard to find, and we don't yet have an operating budge large enough to import them. ^_^ It's preferable to add all characters for one series in a batch update. It seems for anime series, the time to acquire all character names and images is too large and inefficient with our current system in place. |

Well, as per my recent inquiries as to anime information I've found that by far the most in-depth source for anime is wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/). A lot of times the wikipedia pages have links to the Japanese or English home pages of the animes (if they haven't been closed down that is). I have a few other sources such as:
Absolute anime (http://www.absoluteanime.com/) Anidb (http://anidb.net/) Animenfo (http://www.animenfo.com/) As for the pictures, other than the aforementioned Wikipedia, I've taken to using google. The only thing is that you kind of have to know how to tweak your searches to produce what you really want (boolean can be such a pain at times). The screenies I get straight from their respective episodes, I have direct access to around 200 animes and I can get access to many more. I'm also pretty skilled with Photoshop so I've become pretty good with cleaning up unwanted things in screenshot images. I won't recommend animes that I haven't seen before and that I don't have access to. |

^I can agree with that, however finding the web-based images on the animes that I posted haven't taken me more than twenty minutes per series. the screenies are definitely the longest to produce as actually finding the shot you want then cleaning it up takes considerable time. On the other hand it can be quite enjoyable.
Edit: just found a site with some really high quality scans. Man, the pics on the site are like huge, and the previews are good sized too. Anyway, here ya go: http://www.animepaper.net/ the site has a currency system and so you need to figure out how to get those credits to get the huge HQ stuff. [ Edited Nov 13, 2007 ] |

Found some sites with some good scans for Please Teacher.
http://www.animecubed.com/galleries/onegai/ (This gallery also has good scans for Please Twins (sequel), so be careful which scans you grab) http://downloads.thespectrum.net/art_please-teacher/index1.shtml [ Edited Nov 19, 2007 ] |

Thanks. It'll be a little while yet before I can work full speed on adding anime series. This semester is wrapping up at college (I'll admit I've been just a little side tracked. :-P)
You've helped me get a little closer to drafting a reasonable policy for adding characters from anime series. It's worth mentioned that the time from start to finish to add the characters from H games is under 5 minutes. I've been trying hard to lower the time to add an anime series from 20-60 minutes to under 5 as well. 1. Gather basic info from Absolute anime (http://www.absoluteanime.com/) OR Anidb (http://anidb.net/) OR Animenfo (http://www.animenfo.com/) OR Wikipedia 2. Gather initial images of characters from Episode 1 OP / Episode 1 ED or Home Page, or Anime DB Sites. 3. Continue to add missed characters 4. Continue to replace initial images with better images as they become available If you have the time, please post any images of characters you find. Feel free to use the attach file feature. This site has lots of bandwidth. ![]() |

Information is easy to come by but the pics are tougher to get ahold of, especially with some of the older animes that I've seen that weren't very popular. It's usually a bit more of a search if there is no working homepage for the anime. I find I get better results if I use search strings like this: anime name followed by "scans", "characters" or a specific character name.
To tell you the truth, finals are coming up for me as well (three weeks, good stuff), so I'll be busy too. About the process described ^up there, I didn't consider screenies from the op/ed, that would work. I like finding scans better myself because those are usually higher quality pics; I suppose that would depend on the quality of the video you use though. |
