Hi!
I'm new around here. I'm spanish, so don't blame me if I make so many mistakes. Well, to the main point: I would like to add manga series and characters to the database. I couldn't find any tread talking about this, and I think that such a powerful search tool would be more useful if it contains manga stuff (mostly characters) as well as what it already has (like anime and games characters). I say this because I have seen lots of manga that don't have any anime version (as I think you know), so I propose this. I'm trying to be cautious and not to mess up anything, so I'll wait your response. |

As far as I know, there's nothing stopping you from adding manga-only characters (though hair and eye colour might be an issue if you consider that manga is usually black-and-white only). I'd wait for Rei to weigh in first, though.

Welcome to the site Semprini!
The only issue with manga characters, as Kyareshi mentioned is, we don't accept black and white images. If you can find colored versions of characters, as are often published in covers, special features, promotions, etc - they can be added to the Manga version of any title. You can use the new title tool to add a manga version ( after creating, edit it to set the Media Type to Manga ) then scroll down to the Characters section, click Add a Character to upload a character directly to that page. A moderator should likely create a Franchise version of the same Title, then assign the Manga to the Franchise and any Anime's OVA's and Movies that may come later. Hopefully it'll all work out well. Let me know if you have any more questions. ^_^ Edit: Although... thinking about adding all characters for the sake of competition... I might be able to rework the Other Character DB to make it easier to post Black and White images to it. [ Edited Jun 19, 2011 ] |

Thanks a lot!
I thougt about adding only characters with defined colors, of course. But instead of wiki pages, maybe mangaupdates is more useful, I think. For example: http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=26485 Or: http://myanimelist.net/manga/5801/Double_Arts But if those webs are taboo here, I'll better shut up ![]() One more thing, I'll avoid Oneshots and doujinshi, which are too short (and many NSFW). Maybe you could just add a flag in the characters table indicating whether they are black & white only or not. Then you could separate black & white searches from normal full colour searches.
