Our Awards system is now in BETA!

I had hoped to finish this in 2 days about a week ago. lol Looking more like a 2 or 3 week project.

I've coded it to do most of what I envisioned. Click the Awards link in the main menu to get started.


First thing you need is an image and a name for your award. Make sure it's a PNG or
JPG, and know that once uploaded it will be resized to be under 150x150 if needed.

In the Awards menu, click New



Fill out the form like so, and click create award.



You'll now have a listing of all awards. This new award will have a status of New. So click Edit, set the type of the award, and update the status to complete. Mods will have the option of approving or rejecting awards in the same way.

Site awards are managed by the site staff only.

Personal awards can be assigned by you.

And general awards can be assigned by anyone.



Once the award has been approved, you can now click the give link.

I'd considered entering in a user ID... too complex.

Could code a user name search, but a waste of my time. lol

So! Just type in the EXACT user name of who you want to give the award too, give a short reason, and send it to them.




Mods have the option of setting Site Badge which forces an award to be accepted. Kinda like playing an RPG, you can't undo the awards you've earned. At least that's the idea here.

Other awards will be in a "moderation pending" state... so you can later accept, reject, or block them.

Once an award is accepted, it'll appear on your "Awarded - Mine" listing.

From here, you can select the award you want to use as your site badge. It will then appear next to your name on the forum and elsewhere ( as I add code for elsewhere ).

Again for clarification between V.I.P. and Special Recognition.
The way I saw the difference between V.I.P. and Special Recognition is the V.I.P. was an award that could only be handed out by Rei, or at the very least a committee of high-ranking members. Whereas Special Recognition was an award that could be handed out by more individuals, such as defending another member from harassment, pointing out trouble makers or just being an excellent member, this award still being limited to mid-ranking admins.

I hope this is where it should go/ as reiteration.

I'll update them to make it so.

Special will be a General Award anyone can hand out.

They represent how many posts you solved on the Who That Character Board. See: http://www.animecharactersdatabase.com/who.php?halloffame but I am having some difficulty determining how many solved should represent what award. I found them on a Star Trek fan site.
