Prince Justin is the crown prince of a magical land. He was cursed and turned into a scarecrow with a turnip for a head in order to provoke war between his land and another, a tactic which nearly worked.
For the majority of the movie we only see Justin in his transformed state, and only learn what he really looks like near the end.
