After being diagnosed with an incurable disease in 2009, Yuji Kaido goes in cryogenic sleep in hopes that an effective treatment will be developed soon. In 2031, Yuji wakes up to find the world overrun by a deadly new species known as 'Blue'. After falling out of his stasis chamber and regaining consciousness, Yuji finds himself about to be eaten by a giant Blue only to be saved by Marlene Angel inside the cockpit of an Armor Shrike. He then takes shelter with recovery team: Gran Seil. Forced into and unfamiliar world destroyed by the blue, Yuji agrees to travel with Marline Angel to 2nd Earth.
