The head of the science division on Second Earth, Dr Miyagi is introduced into the story by suggesting that Marlene and Yuji are kept together in order to get the best results from Yuji in the sleeper program. Disagreeing with the High Council's leadership of Second Earth and its reckless use of the sleepers, he forms a group called The Ark, which overthrows the High Council after the second deployment of the Sleeper Brigade results in a massacre because the High Council falsified data, and ignored the warnings of the Science Division. |
