I assume the first thing you are wondering is: How do I get my name here?!
Every day you use the site you earn one merit point. Each rank costs 10 merit points. The fastest way to get your next rank is to login to the site daily for 10 days in a row. If you miss a day, don't worry. You keep your current merit points, and earn another the next day you login. The highest rank is Fleet Admiral. Being the 37th rank, it should take at least 370 days to earn. But the important thing is, YOU CAN EARN IT. :)
I suspect there will be ways to earn bonus merit points in the future. For now at least, the system is time based only.
