The main character of the series is a 14-year old middle school boy at the beginning of the story, as well as the 22nd Kekkaishi of the Sumimura family.
He is often seen baking, an activity he often finds more important to him than his duty as a Kekkaishi, and dreams of becoming a patissier. He is often chastised by his grandfather for this hobby.
