Tsukihime |
TYPE-MOON'S first 'official' work that they made upon their creation, when they were simply a doujin group. Tsukihime was originally labeled as a common h-game, in which you choose a heroine and pursue her sexual interests throughout the game; yet Tsukihime was far more developed than that. It is known far more for its interweaving multiple storylines, and the complex, intricate backgrounds of the characters than for the two h-scenes per route (which can mostly be skipped with little to no impact on the plot). The sheer depth and complexity that the story reaches has made it a legend in its own time. There was an attempt to create an anime based on it, but sadly it altered the entire mood and plot to such a degree that a large number of fans (to this day) declare that "THERE IS NO TSUKIHIME ANIME!" *Spoilers Abound* |
Nanaya |

Shiki Tohno
The protagonist of Tsukihime. He is actually not a Tohno, having been adopted on a whim by the Tohno family after they slaughtered his demon-slaying family of assassins, the Nanaya clan . Eight years ago, he was involved in a severe accident that he barely recovered from, resulting in his banishment from the Tohno family and the loss of his Nanaya identity (he is made to believe he's Shiki Tohno) . On waking up in the hospital, he finds that everything is covered in 'lines,' and will fall apart if he traces along the lines. He finds that he has the 'Mystic Eyes of Death Perception,' which allow him to perceive the nature of death itself. |

Arcueid Brunestud
The last remaining True Ancestor vampire (which are the original, perfect vampires born of the world itself). She meets the protagonist after a rather... brutal incident, but teams up with him afterwards. Despite being over 800 years old, she has only been awake for less time than the protagonist has been alive. |

Ciel
Seat #7 of the Church's Burial Agency, a hidden organization within the Church devoted to the elimination of heretics - namely, non-human threats (especially vampires). Due to a paradox created by her existence, she is cursed so that she cannot age or die (excluding the protagonist's ability). The world itself will fully return her to her original form no matter what kind of damage occurs or how little of her is left in order to fix the paradox that would be created by her death . |

Akiha Tohno
The protagonist's sister, although in truth they are actually not remotely related . The new head of the Tohno family; in the beginning of Tsukihime she invites the protagonist back to the Tohno Mansion after the death of her father, who kicked him out after the accident. |

Hisui
One of the two maids in the Tohno Mansion, she is the younger twin sister. The protagonist's personal attendant, her duties involve waking him up and cleaning the house. Along with her sister, she has been in the Tohno Mansion since childhood. She comes from a family of Synchronizers, but it is unclear how the Tohno family obtained her and her sister. |

Kohaku
One of the two maids in the Tohno Mansion, she is the older twin sister. Akiha's personal attendant, her duties involve serving Akiha and cooking. One of the more tragic characters. Although she has been at the Tohno Mansion as long as her sister, she was never allowed to leave the family head's side, only being able to watch everybody playing from a window. As she is from a family of synchronizers, she was used by the Tohno Head to stabilize his human side (basically raping her for her powers to take effect) , resulting in general childhood trama and a the incurring of an enormous grudge. Highly intelligent, she already has a degree in medicine(through illegal manipulation of her official age). |
