You can post ANYTHING here, except profane or threatening things in a completely non playful way. So post away! ive found that a spam thread helps members get to know eachother too, and its more fun this way

Excessive OT is good, but real spam will still feel the wrath of moderators. :-P
That said, cool topic kondesu! on my mind lately is, what's with small laptops and low res screens? How long must I wait for a 1920x1080 res in a 10" screen?! lol and same thing with cell phones... where are the Hex Core phones with 1080p displays! hm, actually, screw 2d, why not go all the way and do holographic projections.... and for less than $99. >< |

that would be so much nicer than the crappy phones we have today. people brag about iphones, until they crack the screen. ive been also wondering why there are phones that can take pictures of extremely high resolutions yet it takes away from the whole point by having horrible quality

Ironically, I find that trying to post in a thread titled "spam" takes away the spontaneity of the act. I just can't think of anything to say.
My cell phone is ancient. I only keep it around for texting and making/receiving calls, which, as it is easy to forget these days, do constitute the intended core function of such a device, after all. |

Lemme get in here...
I rescently purchased a laptop and the screens gotta be at least 17 inches. No I'm not compensating :P I just like online games like starcraft, and I wanna see as much of my base in one screenshot as I can. Its a tripple core and the specs make the graphics of such a game shine like gold boulion. Anyway I have a g2 cellphone by htc. Its a mini computer sorta, but man what's with that laptop dockin phone? To combine laptop and phone into one very mobile unit with just a docking feature? That's gotta be sweet.

A laptop dockin' phone? I guess a USB Cable just doesn't have the same "coolness" to it. haha. hope they're careful letting devices link together... they might form a collective super device, and before we know it, it's just like Trapper Keeper! *wiki link

Everytime I install Windows, I remember how much of a pain it is to get everything installed. Driver this, software that. I'm becoming more and more of a Linux advocate with every Windows install. Package managers are nice since I can select everything I need to install and then let it do it's thing.
While we're on phones, I have a Nexus One. Works well enough for me, a few minor irks, but not enough for me to get a new phone out of rage (also loving that T-Mobile doesn't fully support my phone, take that T-mobile!). Laptops are somewhat "indispensible". As long as I can install Linux on it, that's all I care about I suppose. Apples are a bit inflexible that way (I think I can install Linux on Apple, but I just haven't really cared to look it up or anything of that sort). *bashes head into desk* No more Windows!!! Free me from this compatibility slavery!!! lol |

I get a sence that that there are only two ways to go, win or mac. I'm sure that's not true, but apple farmers eat apples and make apple pie. Orange farmers eat oranges and make oranje juice. Both are getting their vitamins, but us consumers have to choose pie or juice. Microsoft had to face monopoly charges for making things solely for use by them even though the average joe wants to use it. Can there be a universal computer? Is there a market for it? Is it at all possible to develop a system that can run any program any where? Should the world want that? Discuss..

Back when Apple was using PowerPC architecture, there wasn't much possibility of running Mac OS on a PC, or Windows on a Mac. But now that everyone is using pretty much the same hardware.... ( Intel Dual Core, ARM, AMD ) it's fairly possible to run the same software on any computer. As for a Universal Operating system that can run everything... I think we get closer to it everyday thanks to the many Virtualization Projects.
Personally though, I think each operating system has a distinct personality. Something about it, appeals to certain groups of people. In a weird way, I've been an addict of all of them. haha. Apple fanboy until I became a gamer. Windows user until I took an interest in programming and OpenSourceSoftware. Linux enthusiast until the masses started taking an interest in Linux. Now I use BSD, an esoteric UNIX system that frees me from nagging tech support questions! muahaha |
