| At first glance, Tsubasa seems like a little girl because of her looks and height. She's cute, she whines, she pouts : she's your average fifteen-year old girl adored by all. Tsubasa, like every other person, has her likes and dislikes and her big dislike are men. Time and time again, Tsubasa is hurt by the men in her life. Take for example, her longtime friend, Soichirou, was her crush and she had planned on confessing to him once they entered highschool. However, she does attend Hokuei High School until later on in the manga/anime because of a skateboard accident and when she returns, Soichirou is already claimed by Yukino. Tsubasa then finds out later that her father who has taken care of her ever since her mother passed away is planning on getting remaried. For our little princess, Tsubasa had hoped that she'd be the only girl in both Soichirou and her father's life and that with her by their side, they would all be content. When she finds out that they are allowing other women into their lives, Tsubasa is devastated and feels even more lonely. When she finally meets her step-brother, Kazuma, she soon finds herself falling for him even though she was against her father's remarriage in the first place. Tsubasa is definately one of the most dynamic characters of Kare Kano for she learns to open up again to the world. She matures and learns to grow up and to accept many things that may hurt her. Even though she doesn't get along with some people, such as Yukino, she learns to like her and eventually is attached to her. Tsubasa may be overlooked as a character who's just simply "there", but she is definately more than that. Despite her cute childish behavior (which includes overdose of sweets), Tsubasa is a girl full of many mixed emotions and her way of thinking is very complexed. In a way, she learns to become independent and knows that the only way to find happiness is to get up and go for it rather than sit at home and sulk about it. Tsubasa is more than just a pretty face and defines a lot of what "girl power" is. There is definately something amazing about this princess of ours. Tsubasa is known commonly as the baby of the group in Kare Kano. Most of the time, you'll see her eating candy whenever the group is eating lunch. In the anime, you can see that she loves Totoro and in the manga, you will see that she loves big cats. When Tsubasa's in a bad mood, she'll become violent and scratch people. Despite her violent nature at times, Tsubasa is like a real princess deep down. It also makes sense since the "hime" in her name means "princess" in japanese. She's a good homemaker and takes good care of her father and the house they live in. |

| She has purple eyes, long purple hair that extends to her hips, wears a lab-coat and a pair of robotic rabbit ears. Tabane is often seen wearing a frilly maid like blue and white dress. Much to everybody's surprise, Tabane is a very energetic person and runs around like a happy kid. She often refers herself as "Tabane the Genius", hinting to a sense of cockiness. She is very fond of the people she loves and would hug them as many times as she feels like. Her explosive entrances and her childish manners often costs her being hit on the head by people like Chifuyu and Houki, but she recovers extremely fast and gets energetic again. Although she sometimes acts like a kid, her intelligence is at the top of the world and can work at a very fast rate, such as adjusting the Akatsubaki to fit Houki's body in less than a minute and declaring that she can finish configuring Akatsubaki in just seven minutes. History: She first started on the creation of the IS for the concept of the space exploration 10 years ago. Having created the 467 cores and shocking the world of the existence of the unit, she disappeared from the face of the earth. Even in the time line of the novel, she's still the most wanted person by all the organizations related to IS due to her knowledge. |

| Houki is a first year student at the IS academy and has been friends with Ichika since they were kids though they have not seen each other for six years. She has a very long ponytail. Her place of resident is home to a kendo dojo and she has been interested in kendo since she was young. Houki even competes in kendo competitions at a national level and was the winner of the national tournament that was hosted one year before the story of Infinite Stratos began. She is part of the kendo club at the IS academy. Houki harbors feelings for Ichika. She pilots the Aka Tsubaki IS. History: Prior to the start of the main series, she was a childhood friend of Ichika. Her place of residence is home to a kendo dojo and she has been interested in kendo since she was young. Houki even competes in kendo competitions at a national level and was the winner of the national tournament that was hosted one year before the story of Infinite Stratos began. Her older sister Tabane is the creator of the IS yet Houki hates her because six years ago, Ichika agreed to become her boyfriend if she could win the national kendo tournament of their grade. However, the day of the tournament was also the day the IS were introduced to the world. Because of their links to Tabane, Houki's family was placed under government protection and Houki was forced to withdraw from the kendo tournament. Since that incident, Houki has hated her sister for moving her away from the boy she loves and abandoning their family. |

| Cecilia is a first year student at the IS academy and is the IS cadet representative from England, as part of the British Aristrocracy. Her father was a weak and timid man who had little influence both outside and inside the Alcott family which made her swear to never marry a weak man (A difficulty due to the shift in social status). She was orphaned 3 years ago after a train accident and was forced to protect her family fortune from those who wish to claim a stake of it. She pilots the Blue Tears IS. | |

| Chifuyu is Ichika's older sister. She is 24 years old and is in charge of Ichika's class at the IS academy. She was the Japanese pilot for the first generation IS machines and was said to be the strongest IS pilot at one point before retiring. During her retirement, she looked after her brother and raised him by herself after their parents abandoned them. She deeply cares for Ichika as she sees him as her only family. Chifuyu was also the one who enrolled Ichika to the IS academy to keep him safe from other countries. Chifuyu once wielded Yukihira, a powerful IS energy blade that is now under Ichika's possession. Chifuyu was a close friend of Tabane Shinonono, the creator of the IS, which explains how their younger siblings became childhood friends | |

| Laura is a first year student at the IS academy and is the IS cadet representative from Germany. A genetically engineered super soldier, Laura is a member of the German military and holds the rank of second lieutenant. She has red eyes, long silver hair, and a black eye patch over her left eye. Laura was under Chifuyu's guidance when the latter was in the German army and thus holds Chifuyu in high regard. | |

| The protagonist of Infinite Stratos. He is a first year student at the IS academy. His older sister, Chifuyu, is a legendary IS pilot. The siblings were abandoned by their parents at a young age and Ichika was raised by his sister. Ichika has a habit of personally assessing the situation with interior monologue as well as being easily guessed on what he is thinking. As the first male IS pilot, his new reputation has made him somewhat famous. He pilots the Byakushiki IS. He is also fairly dense as he doesnt realize the feelings of those around him even though they show it very well. | |

| The Chinese Representative of the Infinite Stratos Academy and the pilot of the Shen Long, Ling Yin is the second childhood friend of Ichika. She was best friends with Ichika during their days in Junior High School and had a crush on him because of him standing up for her when several kids bullied her due to her nationality. Of all of the cast members perhaps the most open to physical interaction with him (although this mostly platonic physical interaction). During her stay in Japan, Ichika would visit her family's restaurant as his sister was out at work most of the time and she is a natural cook. Before she left however, she made a promise to him that he would marry her if she could cook well for him. Ichika however misinterpreted that for free food. She joined the academy shortly after Cecilia became another member in his Harem and among the cast is known for her flat chest which takes heavy offense to. |
