I smell a Naruto fan.
Nice to meet you Kuri-chan. Read the rules so you don't get a ban. After the first two lines, I felt obliged to make the rest of my post rhyme-an.

Hey there, Kuri-chan. Welcome and enjoy your stay.
Except "chan" doesn't rhyme with "fan" or "ban"... |

Um... No, it doesn't. The Japanese "a" is ponounced more like the "u" in "fu
n".
So "Kuri-chan" would rhyme with "fun" and "bun", but not "fan" and "ban" imo. Class dismissed. :P |

^this is where the English vernacular can get confusing. Note that the japanese "a" sound is more like "ah" as in "blah" whereas the u sound in "fun" would be more of an "uh" sound. Fan and Ban's vowell sounds sound more like the vowel sound in "black". When it comes to phonetics I like most other languages because they are very straightforward with very few odd occurences.

Yes, the the "a" in "blah" is a better approximation of the Japanese "a". English sucks. If we were speaking Afrikaans we wouldn't even have this misunderstanding, as the Afrikaans "a" and Japanese "a" are pretty much the same (at the very least, they'll rhyme).
Wow, I just realized you were nitpicking my nitpicking. [ Edited Jul 23, 2009 ] |

Gum ga lei -.-
The last thing I need is a lecture guys. Also, if you follow the spelling of 'chan' in ENGLISH, it phonetically rhymes with 'fan' and 'ban'. Or at least it does how people in the UK pronounce it. And before you say it, yes I AM aware that that would mean I am mispronouncing the word slightly. Anyway, another warm welcome to Kuri-chan!

^well, that is a good thing about poetic devices, a little creative liberty can be exercised at times.

But phonetics has nothing to do with spelling... :P
Sorry for derailing your welcome thread, Kuri-chan. To make up for it, I promise I won't nitpick your language usage like I just did Ishikawa's (at least not until you're fully inaugurated). |
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH
