	Meier Link Meier Link is an extremely powerful "vampire knight" who is being hunted by both D and the Marcus Brothers for kidnapping Charlotte. Meier has the ability to change his long cape into steel with razor sharp edges, and his skill in using it matches D's skill with the sword. (Source: MAL) When written in kanji this character's name matches the name of the Austrian town Mayerling, infamous for the crown prince's committing murder-suicide against his lover. While the English version of this film uses the phonetic translation (resulting in Meier Link), the English translation of the novel and other media use Mayerling.

	France A country with an infinite amount of pride who loves beautiful things. He’s gone from being strong, to falling, to rising again, only to become weak once more and has been that way ever since. England and France go way back. The two grew up together, but France was a teenager when England was still a small child, therefore, France took great joy in picking on and teasing him. The two have always argued and competed over trivial and ridiculous things, but they manage to collaborate and get along when they really have to. Italy considers France to be his big brother and addresses him as such even though they were fighting on opposite sides during WWII. Although Italy is affectionate with him, Romano can’t stand him and even hid behind Germany, who he also can’t stand, when France showed up. His personality is rather perverted, and he jumps at every chance to make a pass or say a suggestive comment to anyone of any age and gender. Besides Sweden, France is the only other nation to have a confirmed sexuality. His hobbies are wine, singing, agriculture, fashion designing, and sketching, and he loves to tour art museums and boutiques in his spare time. He refuses to learn English because he possesses the most beautiful language in the world. France openly admitted that he’s terrified of computers and Germany, Switzerland, and Russia (plus England when he’s in a rage).

	Kouta Kouta is main male character of the series. He arrives in Kanagawa Prefecture to attend college, having previously arranged to stay with his cousin Yuka while at school. Kouta enters the story when Yuka's family rents him a closed-down restaurant, the Kaeda House, as long as he maintains it, and begins living there with Yuka while going to a university. Kouta has repressed traumatic memories of witnessing the deaths of his father and sister. He suffers from Amnesia brought on by the trauma of this event, caused him to end up in a hospital for some time following the event. Due in part to his loss, Kouta is sympathetic towards girls in trouble and is extremely generous and protective to the girls around him, because he can relate to them and they remind him of his late younger sister, Kanae. In the anime, he meets Lucy on a family vacation, while going to the mountain to draw. He strikes up a conversation with her, finds her horns fascinating, and gives her a hat to cover them up while in public. They become friends and he takes her to the zoo, telling her that he likes to look at the "weird animals." His repressed memories are triggered when Lucy uses her vectors to kill over a dozen soldiers in front of him, afterwards singing "Lilium", the song that brought them together. Spoiler Alert!! In the last chapter of the manga, he fulfills his promise to Lucy and kills her. Later, he and Yuka are married, and subsequently name their daughter "Nyu".

	Kakuzawa Director Kakuzawa is the head of the research center, at 70+ years old, he is from a long line of Diclonius ancestry that has been watered down by inter-breeding with humans (only revealed in the manga). As a result, he has no vectors and much smaller horns on his head, which he hides under a wig. His and his son's aim are in part to replenish their bloodline with the Diclonii they are experimenting on (Lucy is the first to be able to reproduce) and thus gain power as "kings" of the new race, which would wipe out humanity and replace it entirely. He is the father of Anna Kakuzawa, professor Kakuzawa and Lucy's Diclonius half-brother.

	Lauro An agent of Section 2 and Elsa’s handler, little was said or shown about him, but was noted he was an excellent fratello. In the anime, Lauro was shown as being almost abusive towards Elsa, treating her with disrespect and disinterest. The anime also stated that Lauro joined Section 2 for the money because he had debts he needed to pay off and saw it only as a job, not as a cause. His lack of affection towards her caused Elsa to kill him before committing suicide.
