Description (Spoiler warning ahead):

Taruto is the main character and protagonist in the anime.
She’s the pet cat owned by the Monako family, mainly Iori. She acts like a loyal maid, and dresses accordingly. Due her being a cat, her human owners can’t understand her speech and mannerisms.
It is unknown where Iori found Taruto or why he adopted her. Throughout the series, she wields a magic wand. Sometimes her magic isn’t reliable or results in something wrong unintentionally.
Most characters in the series believe she is the legendary missing princess who disappeared years ago, making her become a target for villains.
Taruto actually is the older twin sister of Pie, the real lost princess. When Taruto and Pie were babies, there was an ongoing war in their reign, and, to protect the princess, both babies were placed in a basket to float in a river to safety.
