Hello ! I'm French, so I think I can help for the translations !
So, that is what I propose : Eye color : "Couleur d'yeux" is Ok ! But we can say "Couleur des yeux" - Blonde : Huh ? How can eyes be "blonde" ? Isn't it "yellow" ? - Brown : "Brun" in French (Plural : "Bruns") - Purple : "Violet" in French (Plural : "Violets") Hair color ("Couleur des cheveux") : Don't forget that, in French, "Cheveux" is plural ! - Blonde : Hair are masculine in French : "Blond" is better. If you want, you can put it in plural, so add a "s" at the end of plural words in French. - Brown : "Brun" - Purple : "Violet" Hair Length ("Longueur de cheveux") : - Oreille (ear) : "Aux oreilles" (To ears) is better - A hombro : It's not French at all ! Isn't it Spanish ?! In French, it is "Aux épaules" (To shoulders) - Poitrine (Chest) : "A la poitrine" (To chest) is better - Taille (Waist) : "A la taille" (To waist) is better - Past waist : English. In French, we can say "Plus long" (longer ?) or "Plus bas" (lower ?) Apparent age : "Âge apparent" in French - Child : "Enfant" - Teen : "Adolescent" - Adult : "Adulte" - Senior : "Senior" or "Âgé" Mimikko : Huh ? What's this ? Cat's ears ? Cat's ears is "Oreilles de chat" en Français. In Japanese, don't we call it a "Neko" ? Lots of Otaku understand this word. - No : "Non" - Yes : "Oui" Apparent gender : "Sexe" is all right in French. If you want "apparent", you can say "Genre apparent". (Don't write "Sexe apparent" ! It's not really... :-| ) - Female : "Femme" or "Feminin" in French ("C'est une femme" : She is a woman / "Elle est de genre féminin" : She is a female) - Male : "Homme" or "Masculin" Wearing : "Vêtements" (Clothes) in French - Select clothing : "Selectionnez un vêtement" or "Selectionnez une tenue" - Maid : It means Virgin ("Vierge") in French... Not the best, is it ? We have "Servante". - Waitress : "Serveuse" - White lab coat : "Blouse blanche" - School uniform : "Uniforme scolaire" - Gothic/Black/Dark : "Gothique / Noir" (In French, dark and black are the same : "Noir") - Nurse : "Infirmière" - Nun : "None", "Bonne soeur" - Preist : "Prétresse" - Casual clothes : "Vêtements décontractés" - Shorts and T-shirts : "Short et T-shirt" (In France, we use the English words) - Pants and T-shirt : "Pantalon et T-shirt" - Pants and Dress shirt : "Pantalon et chemise" - Pants and Long sleeve shirt : "Pantalon et chemise de nuit" (Huh ? As for sleeping ?) - Suit and Tie : "Costume cravate" - Suit and no tie : "Costume sans cravate" - Swimsuit : "Maillot de bain" - Bikini : We have the same word in French - Mini skirt : "Mini jupe" - Skirt : "Jupe" - Dress : "Robe" - Traditionnal : "Traditionnel" - Japanese kimono : "Kimono" - Shrine maiden : "Miko" (We don't have french word for Shrine maiden) - Chinese dress : "Robe chinoise" - Martial art uniform : "Uniforme d'arts martiaux" - Fantasy : "Fantastique" - Armor : "Armure" - Mage clothing : "Vêtements de mâge" - Mechanic clothes : (I don't really understand but litterally, it is) "Vêtements de mécanique" - Military uniform : "Uniforme militaire" - Piolet Suit : I really don't know ! What is it ? O.O - Jacket : "Veste" - Winter jecket : "Blouson" - Other : "Autres" Résultat par page : "Resultats par page" is better Columns : "Colonnes" in French Clear : "Recommencer", "Effacer" Matches : "Résultats" Calculate : "Calculer" Include : "Incluant" Exclude : "Excluant" Hentai game : "Jeu hentai" Anime : It's ok ! Video game : "Jeu video" Visual novel : No word in French Manga : Ok ! Artist original : "Artiste" or litterally "Artiste original" Movie : "Film" OAV : French use the English word ! Examples : "Exemples" So, I think it's ok for the search bar ! Can it much help you ? I look forward your answer. Thanks a lot ! ![]() |

Laurah, thank you so much! I'll enter those translations in now.
If you feel like doing more, I think the Character Pages and Anime/Game page's headers would be the next highest priority. Edit: http://www.animecharactersdatabase.com/fr/ looking better already! Thanks! I'll need to do some more delicate work to get some of the other translations in. (The caragoties, anime, manga, game, etc). Before that, I'll tackle the clothing types. So many! I enjoyed your comments along the way. ![]() [ Edited Sep 14, 2009 ] |

Sorry, I'm late ! (Very late... four month... Sorry !)
But time to work ! You said the priority on character pages ? It's ok ! But I don't really understand "Anime/game page's header"... Can you give a link, please ? ![]() So, if we search a character... We find it ! (of course) And there is his name, and under, some links. So, French time ! I've used this page to help me : http://www.animecharactersdatabase.com/fr/viewone.php?id=12432§ion=profile Top : This English word is used for lots of French site, so a person who uses the Internet for a long time knows it ! Forum : The same in French Intro : The same (Complete word : "Introduction") Accessory posts : I don't really understand what is it, but, if it is to match an object with the character, it is "Accessoires" (="Accessory") Fan Art : English word used in French Episode appearance : "Apparitions dans les épisodes" or, shorter, "Apparitions" can be understood Profile : "Profil" Images : Same word in French Groups : "Groupes" Fanclub : The same word in French Comments : "Commentaires" Voice actors : "Doubleurs" In the profile, with the description, you just have to change : Official gender : "Genre réel", "Sexe réel" Official age : "Âge officiel" or "Âge réel" Rank : "Rang" Total views : "Nombre de vues" Views today : "Vues aujourd'hui" Rate : "Note" or, if it is a verb, it is "Noter" Add to favourites : "Ajouter aux favoris" Character of the month : "Personnage du mois" Nominate : "Nominer" Posted by : "Envoyé par" ou "Posté par" Under, we have the board with "Favorites"... Favorites : "Favoris" Appears on XX favorites lists. : "Apparait sur XX listes de favoris." Add to favorites : "Ajouter aux favoris" View favorites : "Voir les favoris" Was it what you wanted ? I hope... Oh, we can work on the left column ! With "Guild rank", ... So, French time ! (It sounds as if we were at school...) I've read the forum where you had chosen the rules of the guild, and I think I have found the used words to translate... If I have done a mistake, say it ! Guild rank : "Rang dans la Guilde" None : "Aucun" Initiate : "Initié" Associate : "Associé" Member : "Membre" Moderator : "Modérateur" Admin : The same in French, but the full word is "Administrateur" Head Admin : Ouch... Head means most important ? So... "Admin en chef" or "Admin supérieur" Edit : I've read the Rank list... You are the Head admin, Rei ! So, if you have created the site, you can say "Fondateur" (=founder) Recherche, recherche avancée, recherche : Perfect ! Mobile search : "Recherche sur portable" ("Portable" = Cell phone) Members : "Membres" Guild list : "Membres de la Guilde" or "Liste de la Guilde" User CP : If CP means "Character profile", it is in French "CP de l'utilisateur" (for use the English "CP" ; in French, it would be "Profil de personnage" so "PP") Add title : "Ajouter un titre" Submit a character : "Proposer un personnage" Uploaded : "Envoyés" Voice actors : "Doubleurs" --- Favorite Characters : "Personnages favoris" Favorite anime : "Anime favoris" Assign mode : I don't really understand what it is, but in French, the translation is "Mode assignation" Logout : "Se déconnecter" Main menu : "Menu principal" Recherche : ^^ French ! Characters : "Personnages" Anime and games : "Anime et jeux" Episode blogs : "Blogs des épisodes" Reviews : "Critiques" Image board : "Tableau à images" (Is Image board a word you created ?) TV guide : "Guide TV" or "Guide télé" TV guide -P- : I don't really understand what it is... Can you explain ? Today : "Aujourd'hui" And views today : "vues aujourd'hui" So... End of the French time ! Just "Pilot Suit" which is "Tenue d'aviateur" (in plane, isn't it ?) Thanks for your answer ! I'm happy to be helpfull ! ^^ ![]() |
