Hi Admins,

I have a couple of quick question about ACDBs lists, so here goes:

On this page (https://www.animecharactersdatabase.com/animelists.php) I can see a 'Character Lists' button, but there doesn't seem to be any way to add characters once a new list has been created. I.e. there is no lists button at the top of character pages. Could this be added? It would be awesome to be able to make and see other people's character lists, you could make your own ultimate fighters/harem/stupidest haircuts of all time list… the possibilities for fun are endless

Secondly, if I mark a series as 'watched' it doesn't seem to change anything, as when the page is refreshed, the 'watched' returns to the default, which is oddly 'watching'. It would be great to have this feature working, so that I can keep track of everything I've seen without adding it to my 'favourites' list.

There's potential for lists we just haven't tapped into yet. I'll have to ponder some options and see what I can do in the coming days. Having an "Add to List" option should be easy enough. I think currently typing in the name of an existing list adds it to that list - but you're 100% right it'd be better to have a list of lists. XD

I'll try to get that up for Anime and Characters as soon as I can.

The idea with the watching was to handle everything within the watching tool. So you'd add a series to watching, then over there mark it as watched. But your idea is better, so I'll do what I can to add an option to add a series as watched with One Click. I'll also be moving the favourites thing to opposite ends - watching and favs are quite separate.

ooh guess what, i've just stumbled across a way to add characters to character my lists. In a nutshell, when you're on a character page you have to click the 'Notes and Ratings' button, then the character lists are visible when you scroll down a bit.

now just to make it accessible to all... would be handy if lists could appear your personal profile too.

Now that I've recovered a bit from the Popularity Contest and Kawaii or NOT madness, I'll try to make an attempt at improving the lists features.

Well Rei, you deserve a rest after all that, but when you're ready it would be great to see the lists get some tlc.

It might be cool if there were a set of small buttons at the top each character page, ie

love
hate
favourite
rate
add to list

they could even just be symbols (heart, broken heart, plus sign, etc. but with alt tags to explain just in case)... i suppose this could work on series pages too, but without love/hate.

looking forward to seeing what comes next.

I'm making some progress with the character pages.


I'll need to do some thinking as to what to do about ratings. We have a bunch of options floating around, yet I don't feel any of them are just right for everyone.


Option 1 : Ratings on favorites lists. Down side is, it has to be on your favorites to rate it.
Option 2 : Complex Ratings



Down side being having to come up with what to rate them on :S

Option 3 : Try something new. Something simple ... maybe 0 to 5 stars ?


At any rate, there remains a lot of member features to be merged into the new profile set up. And the lists will be a lot nicer after a few more updates. I kinda want to build a search into the lists, so we can easily add characters to a list.

Plus drop down menu's for adding a character to a list.

And an input box to make it easier to add a character directly to a new list.

just saw the 'add to list' option in the side bar, that's a great start. thank you again!

now the side menu is hidden, some things might be easier to find on the pages themselves. eg: if i didn't know already, i probably wouldn't open the side menu to love/favourite stuff... but these are long term ideas not quick fixes.

i also agree ratings are an imperfect science, but the 5 stars idea would be the simplest and best imo.
