Shana from Shakugan No Shana has been character of the month 9 times in a row, and is now being nominated again... I realize that people from the site should be able to choose who the best character is, but it's getting really repetitive in a negative way, at least that's how I feel about it. Personally, I think the site shouldn't allow a previous character of the month winner to be nominated again. You know, so the site could host more versatility.

OK, so let's lay down some rules. Once a character has won COTM, how long before they can be nominated again?

I'm thinking one win per 12 months should be fair. That way we'll have 12 winner per year.

Also, copies of characters that have won will be moderator excluded.

Although, maybe it should be.... ONCE, period. ? Anime is constantly changing, every year, every season, every month, every week...

So, each UNIQUE character can win only once?

UPDATE: ALrighty, I've added a few constraints.
1. If the character has won, it cannot be nominated again.

I think this is great. And I agree that being able to nominate a character again after a year is fair, just as long as we still get some versatility

Hmmm... Perhaps a waiting period before new accounts can nominate? That wouldn't help in cases where the same person has already had multiple accounts for a while, though.

I guess you could compare IPs, ban the sockpuppets and send the remaining account a message explaining what has happened.

We could use some COTM Moderators. They'd have the powers to delete duplicate votes, and ensure each winning is fairly selected. I'll code the tools sometime this month.

Thanks for the ideas Kyareshi. I'm thinking some hands on moderation, should provide a good alternative to setting account rules...
