We changed servers.... COTM votes were part of the casualties. Only reason mine is there; I voted again. lol
-Edit- After looking into this some more... All of the votes on the old server were copied over to the new server. However, before copying I ran a repair program on the database, which may have deleted the votes cast this month. MyISAM-table 'charfav.MYI' is corrupted Fix it using switch "-r" or "-o" myisamchk: warning: 1 client is using or hasn't closed the table properly myisamchk: error: Size of datafile is: 11132 Should be: 11550 myisamchk: error: record delete-link-chain corrupted myisamchk: error: Found key at page 46080 that points to record outside datafile MyISAM-table 'cotm.MYI' is corrupted Fix it using switch "-r" or "-o" myisamchk: warning: 1 client is using or hasn't closed the table properly myisamchk: error: Size of datafile is: 1537720 Should be: 1549388 myisamchk: error: Found key at page 199680 that points to record outside datafile myisamchk: error: Record-count is not ok; is 19577 Should be: 19821 myisamchk: warning: Found 19577 parts Should be: 19821 parts MyISAM-table 'dbchangehistory.MYI' is corrupted Now that we are on good hardware, I don't expect a table to die and have data loss like this again. But, to be extra safe, I'll consider changing the database engine from MyISAM to InnoDB. Lots of people in #mysql on irc.freenode.net swear by Innodb, and troll anyone (like me) using MyISAM. lol So they claim, InnoDB has far better error recovery options. Had I been using it, we could of avoided the votes being lost. [ Edited Jul 24, 2010 ] |

Urgh. [/quote1280368874] Kyareshi, you've just be assigned the job of translating my broken grammatical slangs into proper English. Just make sure you leave an Edit notice that is funny, humiliating, and creative. haha ;-) Thanks again for modding the votes Lucian! I'll add another round of improvements in the near future. I've also been switching tables over to the more reliable InnoDB storage engine. Now if only I could figure out how to configure a Linux firewall (iptables) , I'd set up Master/Slave replication of the database, and we'd have awesome backups. If someone could PM me a ruleset that does the following, I'd be happy. 1) Block all traffic 2) Pass out all traffic 3) Pass in traffic on ports 22, 9000 [ Edited Jul 28, 2010 ] |
