Decreased? That shouldn't - oh bloody hell.
UPDATE guild_members,(SELECT author,COUNT(*) AS n FROM characters GROUP BY author) AS a SET s1 = 50 * n WHERE author = uid Should have read "s1 = s1 + (50 * n)" .... I'll fix my error after a I get some sleep... I'll only make it it worse if I try now... :/ I'll tackle the rest of your reply in the morning too. ^^ |

In looking at the "New Account" rank I realized how discouraging to new members for them to be singled out and look so different(them having text and no image (even banned bots have an image). In order to partially rectify this I have come up with this:
![]() Granted the change is partially semantic in nature, but if such a change leads to a better new member retentions... Well I will let you decide. Also it might help member retention if the name was changed from "New Account" to "Recruit" and what is currently "Recruit" to "Enlisted Cadet". Earlier you discussed (jokingly) about an Admin Level 9999, so I came up with this: ![]() As a final note, while working on finding suitable awards, I developed this: ![]() Again with the exception of the first one that can be used for "New Accounts" these are just for fun. If you actually want to use them go ahead. I just figured that if you can have fun with the ranks, so can I. [ Edited Dec 14, 2011 ] |

The new account rank actually means they have not yet activated their account. Soon as they activate their account and log in, it automatically changes to Rank 1.
Hm, I recall using that image. Perhaps when I redefined new members to be "almost banned" holding rank -2 ... then they automatically go to rank 1.... and that image was rank 0? --- I'm not ready to expand the admin ranks just yet. Personally I'm more comfortable with the: 1) head admin 2) admin 3) co-admin admin system. Five Admin ranks were kinda cool for a while. Ten allowed for more people to join the admin ranks, but the usefulness of them still has no point past Admin Level 5. I rather like the Star Trek privilege system. Depending on what your rank is, you can do everything people of lower ranks can do, plus the things only people of your rank can do. So even if you are assigned to engineering as a Commander, you can have Commander level access all across the ship. You just use your authority a lot more often in engineering, and possibly almost never in medical. But you have that option. Linux on the other hand makes heavy use of a capabilities system. You have the root user that can do everything, then you have normal account that can be given individual powers of the root user. I have a feeling in the long run, we'll end up with a mix. Some admins will have access to all powers. Others with have access only to a small set they intend to use. --- As for the image, I'll get Master Warrant Officer updated soon. |
