Shinji is applied with a DSS Choker, whose purpose is to be detonated if Shinji decides to pilot an Evangelion. Shinji decides to leave the AAA Wunder in the grasp of Mark.09, piloted by Rei Ayanami, despite the persuading of Misato Katsuragi. Shinji is then taken to NERV Headquarters and is ordered by Gendo Ikari to pilot Unit-13 with Kaworu Nagisa.
