| Jin Kisaragi is the brother of Ragna the Bloodege and Saya and is also the Major and 4th Thaumaturgist Squadron Commander of the NOL. Jin also serves as the rival character of the series. When Jin was a little boy, he was very dependent on his older brother, Ragna, for affection and constantly pestered him to play with him. He saw his sister Saya as an obstacle of getting his brother's attention and constantly bullied her in retaliation. Eventually, Ragna decided to look after the sickly Saya and distanced himself from Jin, thus increasing his jealousy. It was then Yūki Terumi entered Jin's life and told him about The Black Beast, that it would be born from Ragna, and that he is destined to destroy it. Deciding that his brother must pay for his ignorance, and to get rid of the obstacle between them, Saya, Jin left Terumi to do as he pleased, including burning the church where they stayed and murdering their caretaker. When Ragna arrived, he only watched in shock as Terumi cut off his arm, and kidnapped Saya. Jin later vanished from Ragna's life, and apparently his memory of that incident was blocked off. Jin was later adopted to the high-esteemed Kisaragi family. With his talents, he rose up in the ranks of the NOL and was given the Nox Nyctores, Yukianesa, (however, in the true ending of CS, he tells Ragna that Saya is the one who actually gave him the sword) but his other siblings never trusted him, thinking that he only got his ranks due to his adoption. Indeed, Jin himself felt completely empty even after being showered with awards and ranks (which included the stopping of the Ikaruga Civil War). When the rumors of the "Grim Reaper" arose, Jin felt a sudden urge to meet him, which caused him to abandon his post and head to Kagutsuchi to find out about the Reaper. When it turns out to be Ragna, Jin became ecstatic to meet his beloved brother and his psychosis caused him to be eager to kill him and fulfill his destiny. Jin proves his elite status in the NOL with his exceptional skills on the battlefield. Wielding the Nox Nyctores, Yukianesa, Jin controls the element of ice, wielding it with such efficiency that he is able to shape the ice he creates into different forms such as a series of blades and is able to propel himself on one (affectionately named by fans as 'Ice Car'). His swordsmanship as well as his powers rival and contrasts that of his brother Ragna. While Ragna fights with savage, powerful blows, Jin's style is elegant (although it should be noted that the damage output on Jin's attacks are considerably powerful like Ragna), which strangely polarizes his own personality affected by the Yukianesa. Jin's Drive is Reitō (Frost Bite). By harnessing the power of Yukianesa, Jin can encase his opponents in structures of ice, temporarily incapacitating them for a free hit. Unlike the other characters in the series, Jin's Heat Gauge is broken up into four bars instead of the usual two the other have with the exception of Hakumen. His Drive attacks use one bar each, although incredibly potent as they deal multiple hits in one strike. Jin is a very versatile character, he has projectiles and techniques for spacing to keep his opponents at bay. His Drive freezes his opponents, allowing for extensive chaining of moves. His swordplay is rather different in contrast to Ragna's. Jin's moveset allows him play as more of a mix-up and even perhaps as a rushdown. Unlike Ragna's "bread-and-butter" moveset and combos, Jin has a much more refined and more technical aspect to his game and thus an approach to using Jin should be applied to with a greater degree of thought. Jin is not without his flaws. His parameters are not his weakness, but rather how the player utilises him. If one were to use Jin as a rushdown character, it would be very easy for his opponent to pick apart his attacks. Jin's moves are to be used specifically and to be applied with some thought. He can also be used as a mix-up to some extent, but requires extensive knowledge of his techniques and properties of said techniques for him to be utilised this way. Using Jin as an outright zoning character will only work for so long. His projectiles can be easily avoided and can leave Jin vulnerable by an opponent advancing towards him with a well time jump. In fact, Jin's safest bet is to apply turtling and this tactic compliments his moveset and techniques, but once again, an opponent can quickly catch on and respond accordingly. | Ragne the Bloodege is the protagonist in the fighting series, BlazBlue. He is known as the "Grim Reaper" (or "Shinigami") and he has an extraordinarily large bounty on his head (in the trillions) placed upon his head by the Novus Orbis Librarium (NOL), the world's leading international authority. Ragna's past is one of heartache and tragedy. When he was young, Ragna lived in a church with his younger siblings Jin and Saya, and was watched over by the sister of one of the Six Heroes. At some point, Saya became very ill and Ragna decided to look after her, and in turn spending less time with his brother. Jin eventually grew jealous of Saya for being able to spend a lot of time with Ragna, and he began to hate her. Soon after Saya became sick, the church was burnt down by Jin and Yūki Terumi, who also cut off Ragna's right arm and kidnapped Saya. At some point, Ragna was bitten by a vampire, which turned his right eye red (causing him to become heterochromic) and turned his previously blonde-hair into white (He is still human however). He was later found by Jubei of the Six Heroes where he proceeded to train Ragna on how to control the power of his newly acquired Azure Grimoire which replaced his lost arm and repeatedly stated that although the item was a part of him now, the power was not his to command yet. For the next few years, Jubei trained Ragna to control the power of the Azure, being periodically watched by Rachel, who requested Jubei to take care of him. During the time, he met Taokaka as a child. When his training was at last complete, Ragna had finally come to the decision to depart on his journey. But before the three would part ways, Jubei took Ragna to the burnt down church and handed Ragna two items once belonging to a hero named 'Bloodedge': his jacket and the Blood-Scythe. Feeling the weight of the man that gave hope to the world and the Six Heroes, Ragna finally takes off, his training now complete. Ragna has a deep hatred for the NOL, and travels from city to city destroying their bases; due to this, he has become a world-known criminal and has a bounty on his head "large enough to buy a small country", according to Jin. Despite this, he seems to travel through cities by night without much fear of being detected or captured by the NOL or any vigilantes. Ragna is modeled after the traditional Japanese manga and anime hero. He is a young adult with white spiky hair and heterochromia: his left eye being green and his right being red, a side effect from Rachel's bite. His clothing consists of a hybrid of modern, futuristic and old features. He wears a vibrant red sleeved jacket with two long thin tails hanging from the back. Under it is a black shirt with three red belts. He wears a pair of black gloves with a red shell on the backs of the hands. His right arm is prosthetic after having lost it when he was younger. The shell opens up to reveal the Azure Grimoire whenever he utilizes it. He wears a black hakama and steel-toed red boots. His weapon of choice is the Blood-Scythe, a weapon that supplements his ability to steal life force with each strike. The Blood-Scythe initially takes on the form of a giant sword with a giant slab of metal resembling a blade. The weapon can change into a scythe-like weapon to effectively steal more energy from the foe through his Drive, Soul Eater (which involves summoning parts of the Black Beast). One of the main reasons Ragna is hunted down is because of his possession of the Azure Grimoire (alternatively called BlazBlue) in his right arm, an incredibly powerful form of Armagus sought out by many which grants its wielder power from the Boundary. The Azure Grimoire enhances the powers of whoever wields it. In the case of Ragna, he enters a more powerful state known as Blood Kain, enveloping him in a dark aura that doubles his attack power at the cost of his life energy. Ragna holds his younger brother, Jin, responsible for events that have played out in the past. Due to Ragna's intense contempt for Jin and Jin's warped, obsessive desire to kill Ragna; sibling rivalry has been taken to new, deadly heights. Their sibling rivalry mirrors that of Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske from Guilty Gear. Ragna is an expy of Guilty Gear's, Sol Badguy. He holds many similarities in appearance, moveset, attitude and playing style. He a traditional "rushdown" fighter and his repertoire allows him to quickly close the gap between him and his opponent. His speed is average and he has a simple, yet effective, moveset that allows him to mount pressure on his opponents. Ragna has "bread-and-butter" combos which are easily strung together and also extremely effective. When used in conjunction with his Drive, Soul Eater, Ragna can absorb a partial amount of health back from the damage he has dealt. Aside from his pressure applying tactics and life-stealing ability, Ragna has his draw-backs. Ragna has very poor health in contrast to other characters. This is supplimented by his Drive, but it should be noted that Ragna should not continuously put himself into a position where reversals can be staged. With a limited amount of overall health comes coupled with overall poor defence rating. Another thing to note is that Ragna has no projectile attacks, leaving him at the mercy of other characters who can attack at a distance.
