Mukotsu is commonly assumed to be the oldest member of the Shichinin-tai, mostly because of his elderly appearance. He first appears during a battle between the Inuyasha group and Jakotsu, releasing his poisonous gases into the valley where the battle is taking place as a way to allow Jakotsu to escape quickly and safely. Later on, Jakotsu comes across Mukotsu in the shallow forest where he is mixing up some potions and talking to himself. Mukotsu is instructed to go after Kagome and poisons her near a little hut, dragging her inside and proceeding to try and marry her. He drapes a white blanket over the half-conscious Kagome and does a little marrying ritual, singing and holding her hands. InuYasha fans and innocent onlookers alike both called this little situation "very creepy." He gets on top of her, some say in an attempt to rape her, but Kagome thinks fast and stabs him in the throat. He becomes enraged, yelling that she doesn't love him because of his hideous appearance. Kagome listens but doesn't speak, and he slaps her hard across the face. He is about to kill her when Sesshoumaru suddenly appears and slashes Mukotsu across the back. Mukotsu and Sesshoumaru leave the hut and go outside where Mukotsu pompously attempts to suffocate Sesshoumaru with his poisonous gases, but to no avail. When Mukotsu realizes that Sesshoumaru is impervious to his attacks, he hastily drops his weapons and cowardly hides behind the bushes, pretending to surrender. Sesshoumaru approaches more, but Mukotsu suddenly draws out another weapon and blasts more gas at Sesshoumaru. This time when he surrenders, Sesshoumaru kills him on the spot with one stroke of the Tokijin. Meanwhile, Jakotsu has been watching the entire time and runs off with news of Mukotsu's death. Mukotsu was very similar to Jakotsu in the fact that he was constantly looking for a potential partner, only in Mukotsu's case his "victims" were women. However, he couldn't stand rejection, mostly because of insecurity about his appearance. Any time a woman rejected his affections he automatically assumed it was because of looks, which was probably a large contributing factor. Another factor is that he always came on too strong. Mukotsu had red circular markings around his eyes and near his chin.

Izayoi is the mother of the title character Inuyasha. Very little is known about Izayoi as she died before the events of the series takes place and because Inuyasha rarely speaks about her, most likely because he is still saddened by her death. At some point she met and fell in love with Inu no Taishou, who returned her affection. Although the two form a relationship it is never specifically stated if the two were married or officially mated. When Inu no Taishou died she was forced to raise their Hanyō son Inuyasha alone, with the regret that her son would be discriminated by both humans and yōkais alike for his hanyō heritage. She died when Inuyasha was a young child.

Miroku is a monk and one of the protagonists of the series. Miroku (弥勒、みろく) is the Buddhist Monk who travels with Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, Kirara, and Shippo. He is known for the Wind Tunnel in his right hand, which was passed down from his grandfather because of a curse put on him by Naraku. He is also known for being a pervert, or as Sango says, the "lecherous monk." He loses his Wind Tunnel when Naraku is defeated and marries Sango. In the timeskip at the end of the series, it is shown that they have three children together--twin girls and a boy. Miroku seems to be very intelligent and learns very fast. After witnessing Kagome ride a bicycle in his first meeting with Kagome and Inuyasha, Miroku could ride this same bike with prowess, despite the fact that was the first time he had seen a bike--an invention far subsequent to the current era.

In the Japanese anime and manga series InuYasha, the mother of characters Kagome and Sota. Her name is Nodoka Higurashi. Little is known about her, except that she is always supportive of Kagome. Whenever InuYasha drops by, she would welcome him to stay and ask him to dine with the family. She is very lax about Kagome's life, and does not seem to mind at all that her daughter spends long periods of time with strangers in the distant past. How much of the situation she actually understands is debatable. Her husband, the father of Kagome and Sota, is never shown or seen in the series, he is only briefly mentioned in the first movie of the franchise, as Mama tries to encourage Kagome when she senses that the situation is dire on the other side of the worm hole. Mama could be either 'Mrs. Higurashi' or 'Ms. Higurashi'. Interestingly enough, although she obviously cares for her daughter her skills as a parent can be brought into question. In episode four of the anime despite the fact that her 15 year old daughter was being literally dragged out of the house by a man she had never seen before all she seemed to care about were Inuyasha's ears. This may have been just to be joke.

Kyoukotsu is the first to appear in both the anime and manga and is the first sign of the existence of the Shichinin-tai. He is presumably the weakest of the seven despite his abnormal size. His appetite for human flesh makes him a cannibal, but he eats yokai flesh as well. Also, because of his devourment of yokai, his body size became abnormal. He does not use any weapons to fight except his bare hands, and because of his devourment of yokai, he can usually crush an enemy within seconds. He's not the smartest of the army either, and is the first of them to die off for a second time. In his short appearance in the post-Kagome era, he manages to infuriate what remains of Kouga's wolf tribe and proceeds to die by Kouga's hand. His Shikon shard was located in his forehead, where Kouga pulled it out. He also had a short meeting with Kohaku shortly before his death.

Kohaku is Sango's younger brother. He was killed by a demon posing to be a castle's lord during one of the Demon Slayers' missions and was made to kill every Demon Slayer that was there. He is later revived by Naraku as a human puppet and has a Jewel of Four Souls shard embedded in his back to keep him alive and under the control of Naraku without memory of what he had done. But recently, Kohaku has somehow got his memory back and still takes orders from Naraku to get to Naraku's heart. Kohaku, at first before being slain, was inexperienced with his weapon, a Kusarigama (a sharp sickle on a chain). He then becomes a rather advanced wielder with the power of the Shikon Jewel shard. After Kagura dies, he hopes that he can find redemption for himself by traveling with Kikyo, and remains by her side until she tells him he must leave her to keep his shard pure. Saved from Byakuya by the timely arrival of Sesshomaru, Kohaku forms a friendship with Rin and helps to protect her. In chapter 539, Kohaku's jewel shard was removed but suprisingly, he did not die or wither away. This was due to Kikyo's light releasing the jewel shard and remaining in Kohaku's body, as explained by Kagome. In the last chapter, Kohaku goes with Kirara and a new demon-slaying weapon which Totosai made for him, so he leaves and becomes a demon slayer that helps people. When Totosai asks him if he will visit his sister Sango, he replies that he will not, since the house is getting too crowded.

Koga (鋼牙 Kōga) is the young leader of the southern yōkai-wolf tribe, which is nearly wiped out by Kagura and Naraku. He first meets Inuyasha as an opponent in battle, but becomes a reluctant, occasional ally despite maintaining a strong sense of rivalry with the "useless mutt" about their relative combat strengths as well as Koga's persistent courtship of Kagome. Although Koga always flirts with Kagome and gets Inuyasha mad, it is seen that he has promised Ayame, another wolf demon to be his wife. Koga had promised Ayame, when she was younger, that he would someday make Ayame his wife. Later in the episode, Koga tries to get Ayame to leave by saying he will only marry someone who can see the Sacred Jewel Shards. At the end of the anime it is revealed he did in fact marry Ayame. Although this does not happen in the manga because Ayame is a filler character. After suffering serious wounds, Koga is partially restored by three Shikon shards embedded into his legs and right arm. The shards are eventually taken away from him by Naraku, gravely weakening him; he leaves and disappears from the manga, after telling Kagome that she may leave Inuyasha and come to him at any time. In the anime the epilogue reveals that he married Ayame and has become the new chief of the wolf demon tribe (again, he only marries Ayame and becomes chief of her tribe in the anime).

| Kikyou (桔梗, Kikyō Kanji Meaning "Bellflower") was a Miko (巫女, lit. "Shrine Maiden") from a small Japanese village during the Sengoku Jidai period. During her life, she was a calm and reserved priestess who rigorously defended the village from yōkai who would otherwise wreak havoc on the tiny community. | |

| Kanna (神無, kami mu) is the first detachment of Naraku. She appears to be a ten-year-old girl with pure white hair with white clothing. As a "concealed incarnation" of Naraku, Kanna has no scent and no demonic aura, making her undetectable to InuYasha's senses and is also immune to demonic aura-related effects such as the Hakurei-zan barrier. Kanna is the only incarnation that Naraku trusts with important information about his actions, allowing her to give orders in his place. Even though she is a void, she still has her own emotion of sadness that she cannot express. | |

Kagura (神楽) is a creation of Naraku's, his second "detachment" although she is introduced before her "elder sister" Kanna. A wind sorceress, Kagura uses a fan to enhance her powers; she can create a blade-like tornado or use wind to animate dead bodies. She can also use her feather hair-ornaments as transportation, enlarging them to ride in the wind. Kagura hates Naraku and wishes to be free from him, covertly opposing him to the point of offering aid to both InuYasha and Sesshomaru in hopes that they can kill him. After Kohaku's memories return, Kagura becomes increasingly protective of the boy: she shares information with him about Naraku's weaknesses; she thwarts her fellow "detachment" Hakudōshi from taking the Shikon shard that keeps Kohaku alive; finally, she openly defies Naraku by helping Kohaku escape. Naraku mockingly returns her heart before fatally wounding her and leaving her to die. While tracking Naraku, Sesshomaru finds her dying; she seems happy to see him, although his sword Tenseiga cannot save her. InuYasha's group also arrives, helplessly watching her body dissolve into the wind. Afterwards, InuYasha asks if she suffered; Sesshomaru replies that she was smiling when she died. In the anime adaptation, Kagura's death is never shown as the series ends before the manga.
