it would be interesting to tribute characters. you could offer jewels to characters as a sign of your respect, and the amount of jewels the character has been tributed in total could be displayed on their public profile.

That does seem rather cool.

And from the way I've seen people using Sponsor this page with jewels on Characters, that might be more closer to the effect they want.
