@Ryuu, it seems to me like you've completely forgotten about the original Erza.

Have a look at Fairy Tail Book 3, and try to say that about her again. ( and book 6, and book 12 )


I know the current Ezra in the recent FT manga, and S2 of the Anime is just painful to watch. The original Erza, is Hiro Mashima's greatest character creation. There's more depth to her character than Shiro - by far.

An orphan, forced to work on island building a tower. Her one and only friend betrays her, casting her off the island under threat of killing all her friends if she makes any effort to save them. She loses an eye. And experience such pain she can't even cry anymore. The old man who cared about her most, before he died protecting her, reveals he's a member of Fairy Tail. Erza leaves the Island, and finds that Guild.

Even her last name has such a great back story. As an orphan, she had only her first name. The boy she was destined to be betrayed by, gave her the last name Scarlet, for her scarlet red hair.

In Fairy Tail, Erza is one of the strongest wizards. She has the role of maintaining order, and justice. She is the role model all members of Fairy Tail strive to be worthy of. She is feared, yet caring and loving.

She goes beyond yandere, beyond tsundere, she is goddess incarnate. Beautiful as she is benevolent.


Compared to Erza, Shiro's nothing more than a loli with a high IQ and fast reflexes.

When looking at purely liking then Erza is pretty darn cute ( still not Shiro level in my opinion but cute ) , however Erza concerning fairy tail storyline is the worst character written. The friendship powerups in mid combat and her never training to become stronger is so annoying. (view post)

Good question. The original title seems to be just a "Hooligan", so makes me wonder where the other part of it comes from. Well, jap to eng title translations often seem to generate additional words.
