Prince Lumen

Voiced by: Kumiko Higa (Japanese), Cameron Ansell (English)
Leader of the Spider Riders and prince of Arachna. He is rather lazy for a ruler, preferring diplomatic solutions over fights, even against the Invectid. Some say it is because his spider, Ebony, is so powerful that he is afraid to let it loose. He would much rather negotiate with the enemy, and only fight when absolutely needed. Lumen is bright, loquacious, and loves cute girls. His weapon is a chain sword.

Igneous

Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu (Japanese), Tim Hamaguchi (English)
A leading Spider Rider and captain of the Arachna military. His name mirrors Magma's—when magma cools, it becomes igneous rock. Igneous is calm, gentle and has quite a strategic mind. Igneous takes Hunter's training seriously and almost acts as a mentor to Hunter, to his annoyance. He challenged Hunter and Shadow to a duel when they joined the Riders, but it was only to see if Hunter could cooperate with Shadow. Igneous was part of the Arachna Knights, where he teamed up with a long-time friend Slate. Both were known as "Claw" and "Fang" and they proved to be quite powerful, especially since Igneous didn't call his spider Flame to assist. Regardless of his grade, Igneous is proud to serve the royalty of the Arachna Kingdom, and always offers his help to prince Lumen and princess Sparkle. His weapon is a cavalry lance and one of his attacks is a flamethrower coming out of the tip of the lance. He has a crush on the Queen of Nuuma, Illuma. Igneous had a fan club of Arachna's castle's females, but while he was away to Nuuma, they had found boyfriends, leaving him crushed. He is also afraid of ghosts, but won't admit it and says they don't exist.

Corona

Voiced by: Saeko Chiba (Japanese), Stacey DePass (English)
Discovering Hunter and Shadow, she escorts the new team to Arachna so they may be officially inducted to the ranks of the Spider Riders. She seems to care a lot for Hunter, as does her spider for Shadow. She might also have a romantic relationship with Hunter too. She glows (using her power) most of the time when Hunter is deeply in fight and gets hurt. This proves that she could be the Oracle's chosen one just like Aqune. She becomes especially worried when Hunter is hurt or in danger and becomes quite jealous when Hunter's guy nature foolishly allows him to mention spending some time the night before with an unknown girl (Princess Sparkle) by pushing him into the fountain he slept next to that night. In "Hunter's Holiday," Corona clearly expresses her desire to spend some time with Hunter alone but when he refuses she takes out her rage by practicing on targets with Hunter's face on them. At the last episode, she says "My Hunter." Though she is taller and more mature than Hunter, both are the same age (stated to be eleven, though they act around twelve to thirteen years old). She and her battle spider, Venus, make a great team. She has no family and was adopted by twins. When they found her, Corona had a manacle. They as well as Corona's home town believe she is dating Hunter. It was revealed that she is Aqune's long lost sister (she appears to be younger but this is unknown) and that they are both "Oracle Handmaids". Her weapons are a bow and arrows.

Hunter Steele

Voiced by: Motoko Kumai (Japanese), Julie Lemieux (English)
A boy who falls into the subterranean Inner World, and becomes a Spider Rider with his new found battle spider "partner", Shadow. They both argue quite a lot, mainly because of Hunter's cluelessness, ignorance and Shadow's pride and desire to work alone as well as the belief that he doesn't need the help of others. It is unknown whether the prophecy refers to him, thus it is unknown of he is destined to be Arachna's salvation or its destruction. It is also shown in the TV series that he has affections for Corona and admires her good spirit but is too shy to share them. In the episode "Smells Like Team Spider," he unknowingly stares at Corona while she is marveling at the flowers. When they are battling the Invectids, his mind is calmed by the image of Corona's face. Lastly, when Igneous asks what changed Hunter's mind about the flowers, he becomes a bit embarrassed as it was Corona's image that changed him. Also, since Corona was the first person to discover Hunter, he has known her for the longest time, besides Shadow. Hunter may have a romantic relationship with Corona and their spiders might too. He also caught Corona in her sleeping shirt once in which she threw her pillow at him. In order for Hunter to return home, he must become an Arachna master. Hunter's grandfather Digger Steele was also a Spider Rider and an earthen. Digger Steele knew the hero Quake. Hunter's weapon is an Axial Pike. When he gains the power of an oracle key, his left shoulder pad grows larger and can shoot webs and his special attack is electra twist. When he uses 2 oracle keys, his right shoulder pad transforms, gets a larger shield, a long sword, two non-flying wings grow and his special attack is blue bolt. When he uses 3 or 4 keys his wings retract and grow 4 metal spider legs and his special attack is blue wave. His catchphrase and motto is, "Never Give Up!"

England

England (イギリス,英格蘭 Igirisu), also known as the United Kingdom or Britain, is a tsundere character. In the series, he is depicted as an irritable young man. A former pirate, he is now a cynical and sharp-tongued gentleman. Some of his notable character traits include terrible cooking skills, foul mouth, arrogance, the ability to see supernatural creatures (imaginary friends, that are seen by only him), and ability to perform magic curses on his enemies. Britain is most antagonistic towards France, with whom he shares a long rivalry; and America, his former charge who left him from his overbearing control of him, but he is shown to still care about him. He is usually recognized for his large eyebrows, messy blond hair, green eyes, and his RAF officer's garb. In the English release of the anime, when asked why they opted to choose the name "Britain" over "England", Funimation explained that it was a request from the Japanese studio, since the country's official name is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Tokyopop, the English publisher of the manga, refers to him as "England."
In one strip England notes that he has an older brother named Scotland. Himaruya has confirmed that the character represents the UK and England, while Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales are his siblings. England's other relation is Sealand, a micronation whom England considers to be an annoying little brother due to his continued attempts to get other countries to recognise him as an independent country. In the anime series, his Japanese voice actor is Noriaki Sugiyama and his English voice actor is Scott Freeman.

America

America (アメリカ,亜米利加 Amerika) is an energetic and headstrong character. In the series, he was a feral child-nation found and raised by England, then later grows distant from him which eventually leads to him fighting for his independence. America is very similar in appearance to his twin brother, Canada, who is often mistaken for America. America has dark blond hair, vivid blue eyes, has glasses representing "Texas", a noticeable hair antenna representing "Nantucket", wears a US Army Air Force officer's uniform, and a vintage leather flight jacket. He is the self-proclaimed leader of the Allied Forces, and his catchphrase is "I'm the hero!" His ideas for solving international problems are often absurd, and he is usually oblivious to the opinions of others. America's ideas and inventions are grand, but rarely go anywhere. He is often portrayed as loud, obnoxious, egocentric, immature, and sticking his nose into other people's business with little regard for whom his actions affect. Yet despite his misgivings, he is shown to be a kind-hearted person who cares deeply for his friends. He is also shown to be extremely intelligent in several fields, but most of the other nations don't typically see him working in them and assume he is somewhat stupid.
He is a brave adventurer and natural explorer, wanting to try things no one has ever done before, and he usually spends his free time either eating indulgently or making movies. He can't sit idly for too long due to his hyperactiveness, which also gives a short attention span; and has a fascination of superheros which he aspires to be one himself as the world's policeman (contributing to his use of his catchphrase). His one crippling phobia is the fear of ghosts, which is at odds with his friendly acquaintance with a grey alien named Tonny, who lives in his house. America is frequently seen clutching a hamburger or eating while speaking, yet he is self-conscious of his unhealthy habits and tries several yet ineffective diets to stay healthy. He also has uncanny superhuman strength, being able to lift objects several times his size. In the anime series, his voice actor is Katsuyuki Konishi in Japanese and Eric Vale in English, both of whom also voice Canada. As a child, America's voice actress is Ai Iwamura in Japanese and Luci Christian in English.

Japan

Japan (ニホン,日本 Nihon) is a reclusive and hard-working character. He seems to have a problem with others being in his personal space, for he gets uncomfortable if anyone touches him or gets too close. In the series, he is shown to be inexperienced with the Western world, and prone to culture shock; but he also finds fascination in the ways of other nations since he takes photographs of cultural oddities in other countries' lands. A young man, his character design features dark brown eyes and black hair, common physical traits among Japanese people; and has the attire of an Imperial Japanese Naval officer. He often tries to adopt the cultures of other countries he meets such as France, or when other countries meet him such as America. He senses the mood and refrains from speaking. Generally quiet, he is often depicted with the attitude of a businesslike old man. In the anime series, he is voiced by Hiroki Takahashi in Japanese and Christopher Bevins in English.

Germany

Germany (ドイツ,独意志 Doitsu) is a hard-working, efficient, bureaucratic, and serious character. In the series, Germany is primus inter pares among the Axis Powers, and takes responsibility for the training of Italy and Japan. He is portrayed as a tsundere character. He is tall, well-built, with blond hair and blue eyes (a reference to the Aryan race) and mostly wears military fatigues, uniforms, or formal wear. He is very aggressive around Italy and Japan (axis friends), but sometimes he shows a sweet side. Another aspect of his character is his relative inexperience with relationships, leading him to be very by-the-book as a result of the belief that things will go wrong if he does not follow instructions to the letter. Despite this, as the series progresses, he forms a close friendship with Italy. He notes at one point that he had a "crazy boss", a reference to the historical figure of Hitler. In the anime series, he is voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto in Japanese and Patrick Seitz in English.

Italy Veneziano

Italy (イタリア,伊太利亜 Itaria) is the primary protagonist and the title character, is a bright, energetic and sweet young man. In the series, he is depicted at various points as the infant grandson of the Roman Empire, and is recognized as the weakest character in the series, and as a carefree and cowardly soldier who often depends on Germany to resolve issues. His artistry and love of pasta and pizza are references to Italian culture. He uses his adorable ways and cute face to charm girls he meets. He is portrayed as a "loveable loser".
Italy represents the northern half of the country of Italy, while his older brother represents the southern half. Hence, their full character names are Italy Veneziano and Italy Romano. In the anime series, both Veneziano and Romano are voiced by Daisuke Namikawa in Japanese. In English, Veneziano is voiced by Todd Haberkorn and Romano is voiced by Ian Sinclair. Young Italy, known as Chibitalia, is voiced by Aki Kanada in Japanese and Brina Palencia in English.
