Sunako Nakahara (中原 スナコ Nakahara Sunako) is the main female protagonist, Sunako usually locks herself away inside her room and chooses to live without any desire for life or cheese after a traumatic experience when she was rejected and told that she was hideous by her first love. Sunako is a lover of solitude, gory movies, murder, anatomical dolls and objects that reflect the "ugly" side of life as she puts it; her interests resulted in her distorted view of reality and isolation contributed to her low self-esteem. The character of Sunako is very self-conscious, and has a fairly bad self-image of herself. She frequently calls herself ugly, and never acknowledges herself as a beautiful person. Most of the time she can be found in dark spaces or areas that are believed to be haunted. At the same time, the author shows that Sunako also has very strong convictions. This could range anywhere from defending her fellow characters to refusing to do anything she dislikes, such as dressing up. It is frequently shown in both the anime and manga, however, that Sunako has no problem compromising some values (i.e. dressing up) in order to further her own ends. Sunako's fascination with all things dark and morbid resembles that of the story's creator, albeit in a more extreme form. In instance, a constant theme of Sunako's personality is her view of beautiful and ugly people. She sees herself as ugly, while viewing characters such as Kyohei or Noi as incredibly beautiful. Sunako's belief appears to be that while beautiful people can become ugly, ugly people can never become beautiful. In the manga Sunako often reacts violently to the presence of beauty, believing that ugly people such as her should stay in the darkness. However, the problems with Sunako's retreat from the world is that it limits her capacity for life, as well as keeping her from fairly viewing all that is around her. It can be suggested that by Sunako adopting such a severe viewpoint on "ugly" and "beautiful" people, she has become exactly the type of person that she despises. One such character similarity can be seen by comparing the person who rejected Sunako at the beginning of the manga, and Sunako herself assuming that Kyohei couldn't understand her due to his beauty. Surprisingly, she is also an excellent cook, and also very athletic, intelligent, and a good pianist. She is also very beautiful with long black hair, fair skin, and a great body when in regular anime form. However Sunako changes becoming ugly with dry cracked skin, pimples and all in chibi form. She refers to beautiful people as "creatures of light" and "ugly" people, such as herself, as "creatures of darkness", in the translation in America. Whenever she sees a "creature of light", she gets nosebleeds, and they're usually severe when she sees Kyohei. Despite her negative attitude, once she is driven to do something, Sunako is quite capable of doing things that no one expects her to complete. There is also a possibility that she may have supernatural abilities i.e. plants wilting near her and windows shattering by an unseen force. She is also seen to be loyal to her friends, especially towards Noi and Tamao as she shown to care about them more then the boys. An example was in chapter 102 when Kyohei, Yuki, Ranmaru, and Noi accidently ate mushrooms that changed their personalities and she wasn't interested in getting the antidote for the boys but quickly changed her mind when seeing Noi might do something pervert to Takenaga while still cheering for her in becoming closer to Takenaga. Another was in chapter 111 when both Sunako and Ranmaru were kidnapped and was held for a 1 billion dollar ransom, the kidnapper plans to cut and torture Ranmaru which excites Sunako but when Tamao barges in with the ransom money she quickly shows more concern for her safety and urges her to get out while she still can. Also, despite how she acts, Sunako seems to deeply care about her housemates, going so far as trying to kill anyone who mess with them (despite the fact that she tried to kill Kyohei many times herself). Most of the time Sunako can be seen in super deformed mode. However, whenever she is in a situation where her inner beauty comes forth, she almost magically transforms into a beautiful young woman, much to the surprise of many onlookers. Sunako's inner beauty frequently emerges whenever her character's viewpoint is challenged, causing her to change her belief system about beauty and humanity in general. When Sunako is not in a deformed mode, she has dark long straight black hair. She is pretty tall for a average Japanese girl. Sunako looks like a model when not in chibi form. She is considered to be pretty but doesn't consider herself as one due to her low-self esteem. Sunako has a pair of dark purple eyes with fair skin. She is usually seen wearing a grey sweater with her weird floral skirt, or her grey sweater with red jogging pants. After she was rejected by her first love, Sunako developed an obsession with darkness and a morbid fascination with blood, horror movies, and similarly dark things. She hates excessive light exposure and also does poorly in hot weather, though the latter is because she grew up in northern Japan. She has three "friends"; a skeleton called Josephine (with husband, Sergeant George) and two anatomical figures named Hiroshi-kun and Akira-kun. While she suffers from severely low self-esteem, she is actually beautiful and a frighteningly tough fighter, being able to lift someone twice her size with one hand. She is portrayed (mostly) throughout the manga in Super deformed form or chibi.

Kyohei Takano is the main male protagonist in the series. Kyohei is the most popular and physically attractive out of the four bishonens. Kyohei is initially seen as selfish, blunt, and demanding and has no inclination to be gentle towards Sunako unless it will reduce rent. He has, nonetheless, proved he can be considerate to her when he tries. Among the male protagonists of the story, he is the one that best gets along with Sunako. Despite not being a hardcore fan of gory stuff, he has been seen to be able to enjoy horror movies with her, and although Sunako often states she dislikes his company because it hurts her to be with such a radiant creature, "God's most beautiful creation" as she noted, she lately seems to cope fine with his presence, no longer bothering her as it did in the beginning. Kyohei's personality can often be described as confrontational, and will often say whatever is on his mind, regardless of the consequences. It is shown in both the anime and the manga that he is a very good fighter, and is considered to be very dangerous. It is later shown in the manga that he was initially very standoffish to the rest of the boys. Kyohei later warms up to his housemates, accepting them as his friends. It should be noted that, unlike his housemates, Kyohei despises the attention that he receives due to his looks. It should also be recognized that, while Kyohei is attractive, he often suffers from poor self image. The character frequently drops hints that he despises his appearance, with some hints suggesting that he wishes to become more normal. This is very similar to Sunako, who also sees her appearance as a problem. However, while Sunako withdrew from society entirely, Kyohei chose not to go to such extremes. Kyohei's unnaturally good looks resulted in a history of unfortunate experiences in his life: he is unable to hold a job because he is prone to being sexually harassed by his boss no matter what their gender is, and he left his home because his family was unable to take the pressure of his fans constantly harassing and mobbing them. To the surprise of Sunako, his parents are common-looking. It is shown in the flashback chapter where we see how the four guys ended up living in the mansion with Auntie and that she found him in a cardboard box with no place to go. His own mother encouraged his leaving because she felt she was going insane, unable to lead a normal life with such an attractive son. She, however, is shown to have regretted it, but was still unable to tell that to Kyohei the last time they met, after months without seeing him.

Son of the previous king and a lowly commoner, Sion Astal is the current king of Roland, located at the southern part of the continent of Menoris, just north of Estabul. He has silver hair and golden eyes. Because of his lowly birth, he was shunned and hated by his half brothers. While enrolled at the Roland Royal Special Military Academy, he got acquainted with Ryner Lute and Kiefer Knolles. He vowed at a young age to become king so he can fix this corrupted world. During a war in the years he was enrolled in the military academy, after Ryner wiped out fifty Mage Knights from Estabul, which was mainly a result of Ryner's Alpha Stigma going out of control, Sion was given the credit and named Hero of Roland. Thereafter, together with Claugh Klom and Calne Kaiwal, and with the secret backing of Lucile Eris, he led a revolution and ascended to the throne, and is often known as the "Hero King of Roland." Sion is well loved by his people and his servants, and considers Ryner to be his best friend. Sion is a tactical genius and perfectly willing to make sacrifices so the greater good can be accomplished, even if the method is often extreme, though he is frequently troubled when forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. He once remarked that while he wished for the same end as Ryner, the means by which he intends to use to secure the end greatly differs from that of Ryner's ideals. Within his own court, Sion has to deal with numerous antagonistic plots from the dissented nobles who preferred the old form of tyrannical rule, and when one of these plots killed Fiole, a commoner he befriended who became his personal assistant, he is filled with pain at his lack of power to prevent that. During his reign as king, he is often torn by the knowledge that sacrifices had to be made as a result of his decisions to achieve his goals, which includes the conducting of inhumane experiments on other bearers of the "Cursed Eyes" to harness their powers as weapons, the killing of less to save more, and that sooner or later he must kill Ryner to secure his kingdom from within. When Ryner received a note citing if he loses control of his power he will be put to death from one of Sion's soldiers, Ryner decides to join up with Tiir which cause the two to part ways. Sion become greatly distressed despite putting up a strong front toward his people until Lucille triggered the awakening of "The Mad Hero" in Sion's body. Following the awakening of "The Mad Hero" inside Sion, he tries to kill Ryner to prevent "The Mad Hero" from devouring Ryner sending him to hell but fails to do so. Sion then gives his body to "The Mad Hero" who starts conquering other countries. Because of a contract made with "The Mad Hero@ (狂った勇者, アスルード・ローランド?, Asurūdo Rōrando), the first King of Roland, enemy of "The Goddesses", "The Mad Hero" now resides in Sion and slowly consumes him from within, gradually leading him to suddenly exhibit moments of a split personality from time to time. In order to reach the territory of "The Goddesses", Sion initiated the invasion of Roland's former allies, which includes Imperial Nelpha and Runa Empire, and conquered the southern part of Menoris. Thereafter, he was betrayed by ally Remurus Empire and lost a part of his land as well as Calne, who appeared to be captured in the battle

Is twelve years old, and the protagonist of the story. His "true name" is Loveless. Two years ago, he had an abrupt change of personality and became the opposite of his former self. Before, he was a popular, average grade student; now, he doesn't get along with his classmates, but he gets perfect scores. Along with the personality change, he suffered a loss of all his memories. The cause of these drastic changes is still unknown, although he has regular therapy sessions to determine why. Ritsuka, on his first day at his new school, meets Soubi Agatsuma for the first time. Soubi confuses him with his sudden intimacy and puzzling claims that he was Seimei's fighter. As Ritsuka discovers, Seimei's impromptu will dictates that Soubi shall "become Ritsuka's" upon his death. Ritsuka deeply admired and idolized Seimei, and to discover later there were many things kept secret came as a great shock. It further poisoned his difficulty in trusting others, particularly Soubi. Love is an uncomfortable subject for Ritsuka. He is wary of compliments, and doesn't like hearing phrases such as "I like you." Early on in the series, Soubi says "I love you" frequently, which Ritsuka doesn't believe is true. Because of Ritsuka's cynical reaction, Soubi stops saying it altogether after volume 2 of the manga. Still, Ritsuka's inner conflict over whether he believes what Soubi says becomes a source of great tension and bitterness in their relationship.

Tsuruhime is a character who debuted in Sengoku BASARA 3. She is a seer with the power of prophecy and was raised as a miko tucked away in Kouno. Tsuruhime is unaware of the existence of the evils of the world due to this. She returns as a payable character in Sengoku BASARA 4 as a playable character. Tsuruhime made her official anime debut as a supporting character in Sengoku Basara End of Judgement (Judge End in Japan). Tsuruhime is a sweet yet naive young archer, sheltered by the people of Kouno who sought to protect her as well as her power. It is because of this that she has little knowledge of the world and the people in it. She not only has trouble with identifying which animal is which, she is also capable of being easily manipulated. Warriors often seek her out for readings of their futures through her gift as the Oracle. She greatly values her homeland sea and will risk her life protecting it from whomever she deems as a threat. She shares a sisterly bond with Saika Magoichi. Like other characters from the Sengoku Basara series, she is based on a historical figure from the Sengoku Era. Tsuruhime (鶴姫?) or Ōhōri Tsuruhime (大祝鶴姫?, 1526 – 1543) was the daughter of Ōhōri Yasumochi, a head priest of Oyamazumi Shrine in Iyo Province. Tsuruhime was born in 1526. At that time the island was under threat from the growing power of Ōuchi Yoshitaka from Yamaguchi on the mainland of Honshu, and fighting took place between the Ōuchi and the Kōnō on Shikoku, under whose jurisdiction the shrine fell. Tsuruhime's two elder brothers were killed in one such conflict, and when Tsuruhime was 16 years old her father died of illness, so she inherited the position of chief priest. She had been trained since childhood in the martial arts, and when the Ōuchi made further moves against Ōmishima she took charge of the military resistance. She led an army into battle and drove the Ōuchi samurai back into the open sea when they raided Ōmishima in 1541. Four months later the invaders returned, and while an Ōuchi general was being entertained on his flagship he came under attack from Tsuruhime in a raid. At first he mocked her presumption, but Tsuruhime cut him down. This was followed by a deluge of horokubiya (spherical exploding bombs) from Tsuruhime's allies, which drove the Ōuchi fleet away. Two years later, at the age of 18, she was again in action against an attack by the Ōuchi, but when her fiance was killed in action she committed suicide by drowning.

Noel Vermillion is a lieutenant of the NOL who is assigned to return the AWOL Jin Kisaragi to his post. Noel also serves as the main heroine of the series. Noel was born on December 25, 2194, by Sector Seven as "dimensional boundary contact medium No. 12". She was rescued at the burning fields of Ikaruga and adopted by the Vermillion family, specifically by Edgar and Claire Vermillion (according to the BlazBlue Material Collection). The Vermillion family was once a noble one, but the head of the family, Edgar Vermillion originally hadn't an heir before he adopted Noel and after heavily criticizing the NOL, the Vermillions lost their aristocratic rights and their family was sentenced to relegation from the NOL. During her life in the Vermillion household, Noel obtained her Nox Nyctores Bolverk, after she was attacked by a monster in a forest. A few years after her adoption, she found out about the upcoming banishment of the Vermillion household from the NOL and afraid of the Vermillions' future, she decided to take the entrance exam for the Military Academy in Torifune. And even though her physical and academical level wasn't very high, her synchronization rates with the armagus were the highest recorded ever, allowing her to pass the exam and enter the Academy in year AD 2196. In the Military Academy she became friends with Tsubaki Yayoi, Makoto Nanaya, and Carl Clover. Jin Kisaragi, however, treated her like dirt (to put it mildly), purely because she shared the same face as his sister. Six months before her graduation and shortly after Jin's promotion to a major and commander of the 4th division, Noel was given an offer to immediately join the army as a lieutenant in the 4th division of the Praetorian Guard. She should officially only be Jin's secretary, but in reality she would actually be a special solo soldier tasked mainly with intelligence and assasination. In return, the Vermillions' reputation and rights would be restored. Noel accepted the offer for the sake of her family. Afterwards, she was assigned in year AD 2198 as Jin's direct subordinate, though he still treated her just as poorly, if not worse. When Jin left his post to chase after Ragna the Bloodedge, Noel was assigned a mission to bring back Jin to his post, with explicit instructions not to engage Ragna, should she encounter him. Noel appears to be a professional gunslinger, effectively wielding the Nox Nyctores, Bolverk with incredible effectiveness under the Drive, Chain Revolver. Bolverk appears as a pair of large-barrel handguns, though it can take on other forms. Her style of fighting is a direct reference to the fictional fighting style known as 'gunkata', in which the practitioner uses stylized moves using firearms with the conclusion of the battle involving clashing the hammers together. Unfortunately, the Bolverk is Noel's only mean of offense, becoming utterly helpless when stripped of it. Noel Vermillion is a cross between being a traditional rushdown fighter and also has the capacity to play a mix-up game. Her Drive, "Chain Revolver" allows her to initiate a phase where she can construct consecutive attacks in quick succession, adding a layer of complexity to her gameplay. Despite wielding a pair of large pistols, Noel only uses one actual projectile-based attack, "Optic Barrel", albeit, at different ranges depending on which attack button is pressed. Noel is first and foremost, a comboist. Her strength lies within dealing multiple, successful hits. The speed of her moves and the intricate gun-play manoeuvres allows for Noel to punish her opponent relentlessly. Noel is a highly offensive fighter and relies on her high-speed assailment of her opponent to dominate and control the match. Her Drive allows the player to stack on more excessive pressure and extend Noel's combos allowing her to potentially strike at any side of the opponent. Noel is not without her draw-backs. She has less-than-average defence and her capacity to recover from a punishing wave of attacks isn't exactly the most reassuring. She can dish out a fair share of damage, but she take a substantial amount of damage either. Despite her dazzling combo accessibility, Noel's moves actually don't deal a large amount of damage. As stated before, Noel is a comboist. She requires the player to effectively utilise her moveset to deal any amount of damage. Noel may have an easy-to-use aspect about her, making her accessible to virtually all players, against more experienced players, one must have a firm grasp on Noel's capabilities to use her effectively. Material Collection Information: - Hobbies: Shopping via the internet (so she doesn't have to meet people), writing poems (never shows them to anyone) - Values: Parents / Family - Likes: Anything cute - Dislikes: Bugs, especially ones with lots of legs Musical Themes - Bullet Dance – Noel's Theme - Love So Blue ~Ao no Kodō~ - Noel's Theme with vocals (Kanako Kondō) - Imperial Code – Noel Vermillion VS Jin Kisaragi - Memory of Tears – Noel Vermillion VS Tsubaki Yayoi - Memory of Tears ~Don't Look Back~ – Noel VS Tsubaki's theme with vocals (Kanako Kondō & Asami Imai) - Bullet Dance II - Noel's Theme Updated in Blazblue Chrono Phantasma
